Age gap - Education level difference K1

Hi all,

Me and my fiance are patiently waiting for our NOA2 hoping all will go well. However I am a huge worrier and keep reading up on stuff that could potentially go wrong so I don't pass out at the interview if something does (I am joking but you get the idea).

So...our situation is as follows - he is 8 years younger than me (people can't tell though so I am hoping our pictures will be helpful) so gap 1 and also he never finished high school while I got my Masters degree. Is this really a huge deal ? I mean we love each other, I never cared about his educational level - he is the smartest person I have ever met but having read stuff on here ...it seems that this could potentially be a problem ? I am going crazy - it is not like there is much we can do about age gap or educational gap - not like he can quickly get a university degree just to satisfy the requirements. Would us providing affidavits from his parents and my parents to the effect that they approve of our relationship and know about it would make any difference ?

I know we did not even get our NOA2 and I was fine until I started reading about potential issues ....again. So now I am worried ...again !

thanks for any input

As long as he can satisfy the I 134 it should not be an issue.

Hi all,

Me and my fiance are patiently waiting for our NOA2 hoping all will go well.

It will.

However I am a huge worrier and keep reading up on stuff that could potentially go wrong

Stop that; it's not healthy.

so I don't pass out at the interview if something does (I am joking but you get the idea).

So...our situation is as follows - he is 8 years younger than me

That's nothing; my wife and I have 17 years and it doesn't and didn't affect us.

(people can't tell though so I am hoping our pictures will be helpful) so gap 1 and also he never finished high school while I got my Masters degree. Is this really a huge deal ?

Nada

I mean we love each other

Doesn't matter; just prove you have a legitimate relationship with the intention of marrying and staying married.

, I never cared about his educational level - he is the smartest person I have ever met but having read stuff on here ...it seems that this could potentially be a problem ?

Nada again.

I am going crazy - it is not like there is much we can do about age gap or educational gap - not like he can quickly get a university degree just to satisfy the requirements. Would us providing affidavits from his parents and my parents to the effect that they approve of our relationship and know about it would make any difference ?

Not needed.

I know we did not even get our NOA2

You're well within the timelines so you shouldn't expect anything until some time in March or so.

and I was fine until I started reading about potential issues ....again. So now I am worried ...again !

thanks for any input

thank you so much for responses, you made me cry haha clearly, I need to go relax. I don't care how long we have to wait as long as we get to be together.

thanks again.

ps: yes he is making basically almost exactly 125% of poverty line so we will be using his dad as co-sponsor, who I believe is way over the line plus we will be sharing a house with his parents for the start until we both can contribute so yah that hopefully will not be an issue. Hopefully.

I understand completely. My husband is 16 years younger than I am. We are waiting for our NOA2 also.

I have also read that a large age difference is a "red flag" but I am hoping that the evidence I have sent of our ongoing relationship counteracts any concerns. Really, I am not overly worried about it being an issue but it is one of those things that pops into your head from time to time.

I am exactly 7 years and 5 months younger than my fiancé.

I am not worried at all about that. I always forget about the age difference. When people ask me how much older he is I am always so surprised coz it is not relevant in the slightest to me.

My parents have 6 and a half years difference, my grand parents had 10, my uncle has like 20 with the mother of his child... I am pretty sure age difference is common enough actually..blush.gif.

As Baron said: do not worry over everything, it is not healthy. Everything is gonna be fine. biggrin.gif

Good luck in your visa journey!

From the day we sent I-129F to the day I recieved my K-1: Exactly 9 months
I am the benifeciary

yay for age difference. I was not worried until I started reading and researching....maybe it is a way of doing something ( anything) while my fiance and I wait, even if it is "somewhat" counterproductive. Its just difference in age then difference in education and then I start thinking and my brain starts turning into a red flag.

thanks a lot for the support, honestly it helps me stay calm(ish)

all the best to all

We need to be realistic, a difference of 5,8 years they won't give a damn, but 15,20years age difference? Oh hell yes! .I can remember at least 10 posts here in the VJ that the K1 or CR1 was denied and the women were 15,17 years younger than their husband. But it seems they don't care when the guy is 50,60 years old and the woman 21,25 etc...go figure.I believe you won't a problem because of that .

I know your worries as they are mine also - he is 20 years younger than me ( its never been an issue , people assume he is older than me, I take excellent care of myself) but it still scares me - we have been together 1 year 1/2 i have made 4 trips to see him and have loads and loads of proof of our relationship but i still sometimes drive myself crazy wondering what will happen if we are denied. There are other couples on this board who have the age difference and were approved and that helps me calm down....

i think as long as the relationship is real and the love it there it will be evident and all will be fine...

best of luck :)

As far as I know the Czech Republic is not a "high fraud" country by US Department of State standards and besides your age difference isn't that great. Plenty of women on this forum hitting their grandmother years petitioning for young men who could pass for their sons. They are the ones who don't have an easy time, especially if their SO is from a "high fraud" country. Don't worry!

I am 15 years older than my husband and they did not make a big deal of it at his interview although I made a big deal of it in the beginning of our relationship until I accepted that he just did not care about that. :luv: I think they just want to make sure the relationship is real and not just so the person can immigrate. Love doesn't see age and as long as it doesn't matter to you or him it shouldn't matter to them and neither should educational levels. I think you will be fine. Best of luck to you!(F)B-)
