Hey Jamie -- I have three dogs. I don't know what Roy would be doing with himself all day if they weren't there to keep him company. They are all so cute together. I think the youngest already understands him when he speaks Patois to her. I am thankful that he comes from a family that accepts and likes dogs.

Thats awesome!

Andre wanted to be a vet when he grows up :whistle: so dogs and other animals are so his thing. Its funny you mention the patios thing...Andre was just talking to the dogs last night :lol: and let them know that they better learn patios

What kind of dogs do you have Mindy? Are they indoor or outdoor?

I worry about the same thing with Trevor. He has never been around any animals, he knows I have three dogs and my mom has two cats. He used to ask me all the time, do they bite, or are they friendly, now he just asked, how are your babies. I guess he will adjust, just like they will have to adjust to him

does anyone know approximately how long it takes for a permanent resident (not yet citizen) to file for his/her spouse? just curious.

I'm not sure how long but it does it a very long time. They always say it's better to wait but you can also look on the timeline at the service centre you would be going thru. Residents can file for their spouse.

Good Morning,

Just wanted to pop in to tell you all the good news. My Grandmother had her interview in Kingston this morning and was granted w/a 10 yr tourist visa!! I am so happy.

Congrats  That's awesome. Aren't they pretty hard to get? We want Tony's kids to be able to come here and visit when they get a little bit older. Would they have to get the tourist Visa also? I wonder how hard that will be

I always thought applying for kids are a lot easier then grown adults but I can be wrong or maybe it just seem that way to me. I had to send her an invitation letter (purpose of her trip) and my employer letter to show I can am financial respons. She's suppose to get the visa tomorrow so she's staying in Portmore tonight w/my cousin. She had to show ties to JA.

I'm tired of chicken...but that sounds good!!! I need to try to make it that way.

This post thing is confusing me.. How do you reply to a specific post with out all the others reshowing up??

Good evening everyone, I am at work for about 6 hrs of overtime.

About the Visitors visa thing, let me throw in our experience, although Adrian was denied....I went to visit him in JA in July and the 1st thing we did when I got there was find a computer and filled out the application and printed it with the bar code, next we went right over to the paymaster and got a reciept $100 for the visa, we went back to a computer and made the appointment, he soonest appointment they had was 3 weeks away, he went to the embassy on the appointment date, got denied (due to not having strong ties to JA). So all and all it took only 3 weeks and if he would have been approved he would have got the visa 3 days later. Hope this helps anyone who is wanting to know timelines for a visitors visa. Unfortunatly we lost the $100, we also tried to appeal the denial but it didnt work so we lost another $100 :hehe:

If anyone has anymore questions feel free to ask, and I will try to explain our situation more.

Ok guys I was doing good trying not to think about when we might get NOA2 till today, someone posted in the K-1 forum that they got NOA2 today from CSC and thier NOA1 was dated Nov. 9th...our was Nov. 3rd :(

...I guess I can think positive and know that they are working on some Nov. cases now..I told Adrian and he is doing soooo good trying to encourage me and keep me from stressing so much, but poor thing he is stressing also (he is just trying to hide it from me), he is just so miserable on the ship and has started again with talking about quiting and go back to JA...he is a pool butler on the ship and the Head pool butler leaves in a couple weeks and Adrian thinks he may get the Head pool butler position...so we need prayers that he gets it, it will only be for a short time but I keep telling him it will look good on a resume.

Hi all,

I had gotten kicked out and had to re-register. I still don't know how to post so bear with me. We are working on AOS/EAD papers. Does anyone know if you file for AP at the same time as AOS/EAD does this slow up the process?

Good morning ladies,

We got bad news last night. Tony's uncle passed away last week :crying: It was his mom's brother. She had been trying to call him but just got through last night. I feel so bad for Tony. It really sucks having all your family in another country and not being able to be with them whenever something like this happens. Tony feels really bad because we didn't visit this particular uncle in December when we were in Jamaica. We just ran out of time. Now he feels bad and guilty :( Do you guys have any ideas of how I can help him feel better and get through this difficult time? Please keep us in your thoughts.

we filed everything at once. I don't think it slowed anything. If anything, I think it almost made it go faster. From the day we filed everything to GreenCard it was 5months. I feel like we wasted money on EAD/AP becuase 5 months would've been reasonable to wait for a savings of $400 approx. But you never know how long it can take. I say apply for everything. Imagine if something happened in JA and you needed to go. Without filing AP you have to wait...and that would be awful.

I have a question. When you go online to the booking page, it shows no available appointments. Does this change after you efile the form? Also, if I have a paymaster ticket (still valid) that we bought 8 months ago, will that work? Do you have to punch in the code somewhere online? I am probably going to attempt this today, so any info would help.

Thanks a million.

Anna -- Everything does happen for a reason. Look at this as a "mini" vacation.

Joanna -- Your time is coming!!! It's about time we get some good news here......I think we are a bit overdue!!

Babyjules -- I flew Spirit to Jamaica in December. It was cheap and okay but you kind get treated like cattle. Our flight was late (very) leaving Kingston and when we got to Ft. Lauderdale there was NOBODY around to help us (many of us had connections what were about to leave) and we had to get through Immigration and Customs. Other airlines would at least let you know the status of your connecting flight. Turns out, my flight was delayed an hour so I was fine -- I would have loved to know that before I tried to get through Customs -- the guy almost pulled me off to the side because I was so jumpy.....I say, you get what you pay for. I mean, it was fine and I paid under $300.00 for a roundtrip ticked from Chicago.

Rhonda -- So sorry about Tony's uncle......

Jamie -- I have two dobermans and a shepard mix. I LOVE big dogs.

I agree with Darah. We filed for AP, EAD, and AOS all at once. We never actually used the AP since Tony got his Greencard before we went back to Jamaica, but I would rather have it in case of an emergency or something.

Doodle ~ Are you talking aboue trying to make an appointment for someone to get a visitors visa? If so we went to http://210.177.22.41/kingston/make_barcode.asp and typed in the bar code off the visa application and it showed us what dates are avaiable for interviews...or have you already done that?? That was back in July so as you know thing might have changed again.

Althoug I did just read this:

Fees: A visa application fee of $100 U.S. dollars must be paid (in Jamaican dollars at the exchange rate set by the U.S. Embassy) for the NIV interview through your local Paymaster Jamaica Limited branch. Once the application fee is paid, Paymaster will schedule the appointment through the Embassy appointment booking page, http://210.177.22.41/kingston/.

So, maybe now you have to have the paymaster make the appointment for you instead of being able to do it yourself?
