We never went downtown to get a "certified" copy of ours. We just kept the original one that the Pastor gave us at the church and made copies of it. Apparantly that was enough because we had no problems. I originally thought we had to have an official, certified copy, but Jackie (who also went through the Detroit office) said they didn't need one, so we didn't get one.

That doesn't work here in Illinois. When the Judge gave us our "special" copy he told us to go home and put it in a frame -- it won't do us any good anyplace else.

Didn't you need the Certified Copy for your AOS paperwork?

Good Morning everyone (F)

Mindy~ We got 4 certified copies. We sent an original in with our AOS paperwork and got one to put away for our record and the other 2 we have used to get things like drivers permit, to prove residence, bank accounts, and those kind of things. Since we are always shuttling those around we got 2 because we never wanted to be in a jam if one got lost. It was probably a little bit of overkill but I am glad I got so many because it saves the hassle of taking time off work in the future to go get another copy if we need it.

Tennille~ That is so awful what has happened!!! I know Leo must be so upset. Hopefully you guys can get it straighten out and put it behind you.

Rhonda~ How are you doing? I am here today lonely and bored as well. Why can’t the days go by faster?!?!

Big up to everyone else! How y’all doing?

Hey Rhonda...I saw THIS discussion in OT and thought you could chime in about your experience...if you want to

Mindy...i Think we got like 5 or 6...they were only $4 a piece so it wasn't a big deal.

they come in handy.

Thanks Jamie! I just added my 2 cents to the vacation discussion  This week is dragging by. I'm ready to go home. 2 more hours to go. I really want a new job. It's so hard to quit and start all over again when you're already established somewhere. I've been here about 4 1/2 years now :o I can't believe it's been that long.

Squito's a little under the weather today ladies

He is trying to enroll himself in a technical school here in NY but is bummed about his ineligibility for financial aid. I spoke to the financial aid lady a little while ago and she explained to me that he would have to enroll as a cash paying student and receive a private loan from the school (of $6000) at 12% interest and pay the balance ($950 per month) :crying::crying:

there's no way i can swing that, things are already tight enough as it is with just me working. he's so dissapointed right now and feels completely helpless. I don't know what to do

i swear, the us government has damn near set us up to fail, #######

Just a thought, but could he pay for just one class at a time or something? Then it wouldn't cost so much all at once. I'm assuming the $6000 would be for a number of classes. What about grants or scholarships or something? Just trying to think outside the box here

Good afternoon. (F)

David passed the written test :dance: We were not worried about the drivers exam..she said he passed with flying colors.

We have one certified copy....It's been working fine, most places just copy it and return the original.

School is out of the question for us right now, When we get the work permit or green card which evers first..we'll work on getting a job that offers tuition renburstment(MSP) My job has a Cooperate Academy they offer different heath care degree's you can have the fees for school payroll deducted and get your money back when you pass the classes. The bad part is he would have to start off from the bottom... mantinence, dietary, or housekeeping. It's just an option. I'm really worried about finding a job that he will like doing. He said is hot picky but we'll soon see.

Tru dat

David was not in the best of spirts yesterday. The state Id fianlly came in the mail yesterday, they said it had to be checked out with the goverment before sending it to us..When it came it had a big NONDRIVER license stamped on it. Today when he passed the test, they said the same thing you think that she would just look it up in the computer. So he was upset about that, also I think that sitting at home is getting to him.

Does anyone know why they can't get student loans? I mean they have to pay it back; it's not free. Does anyone know at what stage(visa) they would be able to apply for student loans? This girl I used to work with came from the Ukraine on a K-1 visa and received a degree before citizenship from our local state university. According to her account she received grants and financial aid :o . I wish I knew how to contact her now to find out how she did it. Dee had a good point about tuition reimbursement, I think you would have to go to an accredited school though.
