Congrats Saundra! Doesn't it feel nice to get that out of the way ?? I'm so happy for you two (L)

Well, we just got back from Atlanta and we had a succesful interview.

The appointment was at 12 p.m. and the security officer didn't let us in until about 11:30. So we got to the room at 11:40. There were a lot of other people in the room before us and a lot came in after us. I saw several lawyers come in, so then I started to wonder if everyone brought lawyers. We decided not to ask our lawyer to go with us b/c I felt like I did most of the work anyway.

Thanks for all of your kind thoughts and prayers!!!

Saundra

Oh and I got touched today, by my other man........the USCIS!!! Whoohoo!!!

Finally! A touch for you

To everyone else, thanks for your words regarding the visitors visa denial. We're trying to understand it but to us it still just doesn't make any sense.

That's just livid!! David told me when we first met, cause I wanted to try getting one as well. That Kingston uses The visitors visa a a means to collect funds or make money. Most get denied. He got denied five years prior to that. There is no means to their madness, it just a damn shame. :(

I've heard several people say this. They know that so many people will pay the fee with the hope that they get approved. They know that they plan to deny the vast majority of applicants so it's just a money making scheme for them. bastards

I havent posted in ages...but I've been popping in to see what's going on with everyone...so much great news. I'm so happy for everyone.

Squitto, I thought that I would chime in regarding the tourist visa...

Remember my fiasco with Henry's daughter?!?! We contacted our congressman and things got taken care of in about a week. I would call your congress persons office, ask them who helps people with immigration related problems. Then tell them your story and ask if they can call or email on your behalf to the embassy. email the hell out of kingston with his mothers name and phone number, etc. and ask them please to reconsider their decision, tell them to please contact her for a reinterview....!!!!

It worked for us. You should try it. It feels almost like you are stalking them, but you have to do what you haev to do...

Good afternoon Ladies- How you guys dooooiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnngggggggggg?

Lee, Sjb, and Squito-Thank you all

Squit- I am so sorry to hear about the visitor visa denial. It is crazy but them people really use the the visitor visa has a way of getting extra funds. When Paul was here the last time we spoke about how the visa situation is going on down there and he infomred me that there are hustlers there who sell visitor visa's to people who have been denied for a small change-this is done with the assistance from someone on the inside-that could be one reason you see so many younger (20-30) people with visitor visa's. Vivica Fox said it best- " Put that where?...............Back there..............."

Lee- you are crazy :no:;) , thanks for that wake up call  , I sure needed that laugh.

Congrats on the approvals and upcoming interviews.

I do not wish to share any information about this dead end journey.........I have reached my final destination on this train, and it is time for me to get off.

THIS TOO SHALL PASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"If marriage means you fell in love, does divorce mean you climbed out?"

"You never really know a man until you have divorced him."-Zsa Zsa Gabor

"When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house. And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife." Deuteronomy 24:1-2

"When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on." - Franklin D. Roosevelt

"When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us." - Helen Keller

"Even though you may want to move forward in your life, you may have one foot on the brakes. In order to be free, we must learn how to let go. Release the hurt. Release the fear. Refuse to entertain your old pain. The energy it takes to hang onto the past is holding you back from a new life. What is it you would let go of today?" - Mary Manin Morrissey

Happy Birthday, Marsha!!! (F)(L)

Yes, it's Major Owens.

Darah, at your suggested I contacted Major Owens' office and spoke with a case worker. I explained to her the problem and she took down our information and said she'll see what she can do. She was very nice. She said that the burden of proof is on Squito's mom and the fact that she has never left Jamaica in her 65 years probably raised a red flag. I don't understand. Many people in Jamaica are very poor and can barely afford their basic needs much less world travel. Why would the fact that she's never left Jamaica be a hindrance to her getting a visa. When asked why she never traveled, I replied by saying that she doesn't have a visa. The case worker said she she didn't have to travel to the US but maybe Africa or another caribbean island  I know many people that have never even left NYC much less the US!!

Thanks for the advice Darah, I hope something good comes of it! :luv:

'I am still in shock' - Manning's student gets full scholarship to Yale

published: Friday | June 16, 2006

Natoya Janeen Peart, upper sixth form student at the Manning's School, catches up on her reading at her school in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland. - PHOTO BY DALTON LAING

SAVANNA-LA-MAR, Westmoreland:

SHE WAS not the most popular student at Manning's School, even after achieving eight distinctions from the eight subjects taken at the CXC level. But when news of her acceptance to the prestigious Yale University in the United States reached home, all eyes were on Natoya Janeen Peart.

The 18-year-old sixth form student received a full scholar-ship valued at US$48,000 (J$3,168,000) for the first year with renewable capabilities for the ensuing ones.

"I was shocked at first because I didn't know I would get through at Yale," Natoya told The Gleaner. "When I got the call I was wondering if it was some kind of a joke, but afterwards I started to believe and even now I am still in shock but very elated."

The scholarship, which she intends to take up in September, is a financial aid award which is awarded based on the applicant's financial need as well as academic achievement.

With Grade one passes in Mathematics, English language, English literature, Spanish, social studies, chemistry, biology and physics, Natoya intends to pursue studies in oncology. The scholarship will include full payment for tuition, boarding, books, travelling and vacation allowance.

"I decided to be a cancer specialist because my mother is a survivor, a cousin of mine survived a brain tumour and another cousin has skin cancer," she said.

Her mother, Nalda Peart, senior Public Health Inspector at the St. James Health Depart-ment, still holds a report from the Savanna-la-Mar Infant School where the principal, Mrs. Pearl Ottey, foresaw that Natoya "has great things ahead".

Manning's principal, Gloria Wagstaff, who describes Natoya as respectful, helpful, alert, said it was not a surprise to the school when news broke of her achievement.

Natoya's father, James Peart, a minister of religion at the Suite Cliff Mount Baptist Church in Whithorn, Westmoreland, where the family resides, has just one advice for his children: "Aim for the sky."

Happy birthday Marsha

I guess this stupid gov't is just asking that we all go and do things illegally. The way things are going the ones who do this illegally get a positive out come and we who are trying the legal way are just sorrounded bysteel walls, with no way to get out. Sucks :angry: They need some one to :bonk:

"I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish that He didn't trust me so much." - Mother Theresa
