I am planning on moving in less than 3 1/2 years when I can leave my job and not loose my health insurance. It will be in Runaway Bay, not my choice, I would like to live closer to Ocho Rios but that is where Bert's house is being built (soon to be pary of my house too)

I had inquired about where is the best place for a loan to purchase property a few years back when I was looking for a condo and was told to go to a US bank because the banks in JA have very high interest rates, something like 18%.

I will keep my home in the US, rent it out just in case...

WE ARE DONE!!!

NICE LINK OF FAQs ON BUYING HOME IN JAMAICA (FROM VICTORIA BUILDING SOCIETY (BANK))

http://www.vmbs.com/hc_faq.htm

They answer a lot of questions. Henry and I are opening a US dollar acct there and from what I am told, you can get a mortgage loan for 3x your balance or some such thing.

Jme, how did Andre react when he saw his GC?

OMG I am dying here laughing just thinking about his reaction...

So when I suprised Andre with the card at first he was like "whats that?" I told him it was his green card and in all seriousness he was like..."well its not green...is something wrong?" I tried so hard not to laugh and so he started reading it and was like "well it don't say green card on it either...how are people gonna know what it is?" So we had a nice talk about "Permenant Resident Status"

He takes everything so literal that I never thought about the fact that it isn't green or that I shoudl explain it to him before

Lake is also very literal, since he has been in class it has helped tremendously with "expressions" and him understanding a bit better how much we use them her in America. Yesterday he told me he had a LOT of homework, so I told him "Well, you better get crackin then!", after explaining to him what the phrase meant, he must have liked it so much, he has used the expression 3 times in the last 16 hours!:lol:

We don't want to move to JA but Roy does want to "build on" to his brothers house in Old Harbor so we have someplace to stay when we go to visit. I guess he has something that we can build a "room" on top. Whatever....I love it when he "dreams" :luv: about stuff like this -- he doesn't even have a job yet

I don't want to add fuel to the fire, but I feel that the comment regarding Jojo's decision was a bit insensitive. We (boardies) are all outsiders looking in, and while we are entitled to our opinions, only Jojo and Adrian know the true dynamics of their relationship. Whether she gave him $800 or $8,000, it still wouldn't change the fact that....
:thumbs:I feel bad for Adrian too....but, at this point, I feel worse for Joanna. Sorry...
I told him it was his green card and in all seriousness he was like..."well its not green...is something wrong?
That's so funny, Roy and I have that discussion all the time. He just can't figure out why they call it a "green card" when it's not green

UPDATE ON OCCUHEALTH:

Jamie, Jonesie, everyone,

I finally got a call back from Occuhealth!! They said they had sent the vac supplement AGES AGO. So I called poor Henry - he is leaving for work and runs back in the house after he hears me on answer machine. He said he had just checked the mail and IT'S THERE (he did not know what it was)!! Wohoo! Yesterday I called so many doctors and I was so bummed to have to pay $160 for exam Henry doesn't need.

So thank you Lord, for answering my little prayer. Just wanted you guys to know. So we are going to send off our AOS application...finally. Henry is so nervous that I have waited so long. :(

OK guys check out THIS house....8 bedrooms and 7.5 baths...if we all pooled our money it could be the VJ Resort  There looks to be plenty of room :lol:

It's Hot! We can soooo buy that as a group. Repeat after me...."it is good to dream!" LOL
