Hey everyone,

I've noticed several people referring to the GED. Are your fiances/husbands taking the GED even if they graduated from high school in Jamaica? Or are they getting GED's b/c they will not recognize his diploma/certificate for jobs or other schools? I'm just curious. We can't get a social security # until he is approved to work and I don't know whether or not he needs to be researching the GED too.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

My husband wants to go to university here (changing majors) and his transcript has to be reviewed, as there is a possibility that not all of this classes will receive credits here in the States. Instead of waiting for JA school to send them, he decided to do GED>

Also, I feel it will be easier for him to get work with the US GED (even though he has JA education) because so many jobs are requiring at least a GED to work - it's showing initiative and it's better to have something on his resume (schooling) than just a big gap between his working dates in JA and (finally) getting hired here. It would be all bad if he got denied work because of not having one.

Just my two cents

Mine too, except that by hubby dropped out so he needs it to get in school. I'm sure he'll be able to get a job without it but he plans to go to a trade school, and most require it.

As soon as he gets here get his social security and state identification cards. To my knowledge, the SS card is needed for school. He can start classes the first day he reaches. We tried to get ID and the ol skettel chat bout his I-94 was close to expire so she couldn't issue id,

David is on his second plate of rice and peas, fish and yam....I don't know how he holds it all. He wonders why he has heartburn afterward :no: He is going for a abdominal ultrasound and a barrium swallow on Monday  If he would stop eating so much at once...I don't think he'd be having these issues.

Now he's working on my leftovers

:lol::lol::lol:

Henry does that on occasion and his stomach is as flat as a board! I wish I could just sing "big belly man, big belly man man, big belly man, big belly man man." I love that song. LOL

You are too funny. Talk about American Inventor. I just saw them announce the winner, but now I am watching basketball playoffs.

American Inventor is like America's Next Top Model and American Idol except with inventors. LOL

So tonight they announced the grand prize to a guy who invented a round baby car seat ... imagine a baby sitting in half a coconut. The idea is that on impact in a regular car seat the baby jerks forward and backward, but in the bowl car seat they wobble like a weevil and dont jerk around. He knows this because his own baby died in a car crash. It was sad, but he turned his pain into something positive. He won 1 million smackers and will get his product perfected and marketed.

No word from Joanna as far as I know. Adrian is probably still in customs if it was a full flight.

All of the 4 finalist on American Inventor got their product sponsered by some company. There was the word ace, the bike with the handle bar seat, and the catch thing helps you catch the football the right way. I think some of them got jobs at the companys too. The show is the best at the start like American Idol except for bad singers they have a lot of bad inventors. There are also 4 judges. Its Simmon Cowell produced show.

Im glad Danielle won ANTM

Mindy,

I just watched last night's episode of LOST again, so I am all clear on the beginning. I did need to see it as it was recounting how Michael clubbed Locke and locked him and Jack in the vault and took off looking for Walt. So it's now inexplicable that Jack is so trusting of him and is upset that Sayid thinks "Michael has been compromised." Yep if you are stuck on an island - Jack to stitch you up, Sawyer to keep you warm, Eko to counsel you in parables and Sayid to keep you alive McGyver/guerrilla style.

I think I have to start writing down Mr. Eko's parables.
