Thanks for putting me on the Plist. I wonder how long it takes for your system to clear from birth control. Dwain told me to stop taking them when I got back from last trip. Its funny because he is the one years ago that told me to go on them. Crazy. Maybe we are going crazy baby and new place for him but we think its about time. I would like to have to before I turn 31 at least and I will be 28 this year.

Congrats on your new niece :luv: Glad she's doing well. As for the birth control, are you on the Pill? If so, it doesn't take that long to clear out of your system. Some doctors will tell you to wait 3 to 6 months after you stop it to try getting pregnant so that your period can return to normal. It's not a big deal though. My girlfriend went off of her Pill and got pregnant 2 months later ;) She's due in early October.

Good Morning (F)

I hate to kill the mood so early in the morning but we got some bad news last night. Our beloved pastor in Jamaica died. He was the one who took Andre in and trained him up in church, his son and Andre are the best of friends. This is also the man who took me in and allowed me to stay in his home for months at a time and watched out for me. He taught me the ways of Jamaica and the ways of God. I was baptized in his church and truly came to know God through this man and his preaching. He had been sick for many years with strokes and other ailments but no one saw this coming...he had been hanging on for so long.

To make things even harder on his family (he has 11 children) one of his daughters and her husband gave birth to their first baby only hours after he was gone. So if you could all please say a prayer for their family and the community as well as Andre and myself. It is really hard to go through this 3,000 miles away and as much as we would like to go down for the funeral we don't have the funds nor does Andre have his greencard. Thanks in advance for the prayers...I know they will be powerful (L)

Jamie

Jamie I'm Sorry to hear about your lost I will keep your family and church family in our prayers.

Henery Congrats on the first pay check!!

I just went off BC this Month. I had heard 3 months but didn't know if it was a myth. Since I have been on the pill forever. Awsome this gives me hope. Thanks for the advice Dwain now wants to come up sooner to. He sayed he could carless about playing for Wayne Marshall. He just thinks he will be bored if he can't work or go to school right away. Can you start taking classes for the GED right away?? Or maybe he can study the GED books I got him and take the test that way. hmmm I wonder if it will be hard for him.

As soon as he gets here get his social security and state identification cards. To my knowledge, the SS card is needed for school. He can start classes the first day he reaches. We tried to get ID and the ol skettel chat bout his I-94 was close to expire so she couldn't issue id, even though he already has SS card *langkissteet* . I know if I wouldn't have told her I was his wife she woulda done it cause she was givin him the eye the entire time we were waiting. SORRY, I WENT ON A LITTLE RANT

I just got a book of review and practice GED tests to take home tonight...I know D can't wait to pass these tests. He likes school but of course is ready to work.

There was a link posted to free ged assessment - can someone please repost it?

Jojo,

I hope your day tomorrow is wonderful :l:

Enjoy every moment of it - and don't stress or worry!

If you can, take photos of Adrian at the airport :)

Hey everyone,

I've noticed several people referring to the GED. Are your fiances/husbands taking the GED even if they graduated from high school in Jamaica? Or are they getting GED's b/c they will not recognize his diploma/certificate for jobs or other schools? I'm just curious. We can't get a social security # until he is approved to work and I don't know whether or not he needs to be researching the GED too.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

My husband wants to go to university here (changing majors) and his transcript has to be reviewed, as there is a possibility that not all of this classes will receive credits here in the States. Instead of waiting for JA school to send them, he decided to do GED>

Also, I feel it will be easier for him to get work with the US GED (even though he has JA education) because so many jobs are requiring at least a GED to work - it's showing initiative and it's better to have something on his resume (schooling) than just a big gap between his working dates in JA and (finally) getting hired here. It would be all bad if he got denied work because of not having one.

Just my two cents

Well hello everyone,

Adrian recieved his visa around 3pm today and then headed for the air port for his flight at 5:30pm....talk about cutting it close....Last time I spoke with him he was on the way to the airport and he would call when he reached JFK 10:10 tonight....I just pray that he got on the flight safely....since his other flight was canceled that was that was suppose to leave this morning (thank goodness it got canceled) AirJamaica is paying for him a hotel room at JFK and he will fly outta JFK tomorrow around 12pm.

I am feeling much better now....I am the main recruiter for my job and there is a huge business expo this weekend at the convention center, I was suppose to work it but since Adrian was going to be here I was not going to ( I am kind of a control freak and wanted to be there for the Expo)...so I left it in the hands of the other recruiter, I called her earlier and she was heading to the convention center to set up so I met her and helped out and I am going to work the expo tomorrow till about 3pm and then go pick up Adrian....It helped so much to get back to some normal stuff and do some work..it got my mind off things.

I am doing better now thanks for everyones well wishes (not to say i might not freak out again) but I know ya'll are there for me......THANKS

Jamie - so sorry to hear of you loss...you and Andre will be in my prayers

Dwain graduated from High Schoo but the GED will look better for work and school here. He also wants to go to college and become a music teacher. So he needs the GED test to get in to the community college. We think if the school sends the forms here they will get lost. I want him to go to school. I went for music and loved it and made life long friends. I want him to be around his own kind music freaks. So we are planning on getting the GED first then a part time job and college.

I think the hardest part of it all is that this is the first time that it has really hit Andre that he is not there. Obviously he knows he is here and all but its the first time he was ever like "wow...I am not there and I should be." He is adjusting fine here and really starting to enjoy things but when we found out this happened I think the guilt of leaving his friends, family and community really came to the surface. I know it is a difficult time for him, for us both, and I am being as supportive and encouraging as I can...but its so hard when all he wants to do "is go home where he should be" :crying:

Jamie,

I know how you feel. Tony had that same feeling when his uncle died. I didn't know what to do to make him feel better. Plus he felt guilty because the last time we had been to Jamaica, we didn't get to visit that particular uncle. Then when another uncle of his passed away in March, that's when he flew down there for the funeral. He was closer to that uncle but I know the first one still hurt. I know I would feel so helpless if something happened to my family and I couldn't be there with them :(

Jamie and Andre you're in my thoughts as well.

Joanna, everything will be ok. Any woman that has been on her own for a long time; and doing well at it; is bound to have pre-wedding jitters. That independent spirit that we have is something else ;)...

And I'm sure Adrian will find a job soon; especially in your area. Boy that was a close call with the timing of the visa and flight. Please let us know when we gets in tonight.

Have a good night everyone.

Hi negayle-welcome.

It sucks that he has to stay over-night in NY, but on the other hand, he wouldn't have made the earlier flight anyways! Let us know when you hear from him - we're all anxious to know that he arrived ok in the USA :)

As soon as he gets here get his social security and state identification cards. To my knowledge, the SS card is needed for school. He can start classes the first day he reaches. We tried to get ID and the ol skettel chat bout his I-94 was close to expire so she couldn't issue id,

No she didn't call her a skettel :lol: At least she didn't have you pay for it then get it in the mail already expired.

David is on his second plate of rice and peas, fish and yam....I don't know how he holds it all. He wonders why he has heartburn afterward :no: He is going for a abdominal ultrasound and a barrium swallow on Monday  If he would stop eating so much at once...I don't think he'd be having these issues.

Bigup to hypeTV but where are the movies and the TV shows???

Now he's working on my leftovers

I hate to kill the mood so early in the morning but we got some bad news last night. Our beloved pastor in Jamaica died.

Jamie

I'm sorry to hear of this bad news Jamie :( My thoughts are with you. It's just amazing though that he had a grandchild born just hours after his death. You know the old saying, for every death there is a new birth...

It's supposed to read when "he" gets in tonight :P . Too much cold medicine :goofy:
