Ok...I hate to be a pest and annoying and all but I am really at a loss and could use some advice...sorry to post it again....

Ok guys…I have a question for you. So I am planning on going back to school in the Fall. I applied and was admitted for the Fall quarter and I will be registering for classes in July. I sent out my FAFSA in Feb. and should hear what they will award me with in June. So someone recommended to me that I apply for some scholarships. I am looking into doing that but it seems that all scholarship applications ask for your GPA. It is usally required. Should I use my Highschool GPA from 6 years ago (which is pretty low unfortunatley) or since I have taken some nursing courses and 5 business classes in the evenings over the last 2 years should I use that GPA (which is a 4.0)? Which one should I use? The GPA from the recent courses are more a reflection of where I am in my life and what kind of work I can do…yet it wasn't full time coursework like highschool. What do you all think?

Thanks!

Jamie

Jamie -- I would probably go with the more recent average....High School was a really long time ago and I can't imagine that any of that would matter now. What's the worst that can happen? They tell you they want the High School GPA? Big deal. Kinda like getting a RFE

As already stated, use the recent GPA on your transcripts. Good luck with the FAFSA. Did you apply for any other grants? Here in Cali, we have the CalGrant and a few classmates got $15,000 and some change to apply to their schooling from July 2006 - March 2007 :o

Sorry for the confusion - this is the GED class so once we get approved he can start university.

I want to say thanks for all the messages. Yesterday I was teared up reading them. Its good to know yall are here for me. I'm just so mad at him!!!! He's been asking me to call the girl and tell her that we we're only friends!!! And the more he asks me to call her...the more I want to post more pics on the yahoo site. Cause if we we're "just friends" in March then why heck were you saying and doing the stuff you were doing while I was down there?????? I have plenty of pictures to prove it. UUURRRGGHHHHH!!!!

He's a mess. He blew it with 2 real nice girls. Apparently, 1 wasn't enough. I feel like the biggest fool. But it is what it is. A chapter in my life. I can't wait to see what happens next in the Book of JillyBean!!!!

Just imagine the man that God is preparing for me. I can't wait ladies. All is going to be just fine! (F)

Jill - do you want me to :bonk: Kirk when I go to JA the end of the month? Cuz you know I will ;) .

LOLLOLLOL!!!!

Too funny.

Ok Jill where is Kirk??? Adrian and I are going to find him and give him a piece of our minds!!! :bonk:

I cannot beive that he asked you to call the girl and tell her you are friends...what kind of man is he..that is a bunch of #######....you really need to call her (if you havent already) and have a talk to her about what all is going on.

I really wish you the best, you are a great person and have a lot going for you.

Congrats, Joanna and Adrian! Enjoy yourselves down there!

Ok, I have a question for those of you that this applies to, how are your men doing in their GED classes, how fast are they going, do you think it will take months, or weeks, etc, etc. Lake is learning a lot, but this last couple of weeks now, he is wanting to skip classes, leave early, not go, becuz he is tired. I KNOW its tough to work and do them as well, I am thinking he should give his work notice and concentrate on this til he gets it done. I THINK its only a matter of weeks, but I just cant get a handle on it, and the teachers are clueless. Arghhhhh! I guess I need to go in and speak to them again, perhaps they have more of an idea now thats its been over a month since I have talked with them.

I called the other job for him and they really would prefer he have his GED to as to not get hung up waiting for him to pass it right at the hiring time cuz they DO require it. So...I am in a pickle. Have him quit, finish that GED ASAP, and then start working while they still have a darn job open for him...or have him sloooooowly finish it over the next dozen years...

Hi Ladies…

I want to say that all of you had made my journey a very pleasant, humorous and peaceful one. However, I just want to say that God was surely watching over me when Kirk got his denial last April. As hard as it has been to understand why, I now know the reason. Kirk was not 100% honest with me and was in at least 1 additional relationship. I have always been speculating but it has now been confirmed. It is very disturbing how twisted his mind is and how he is able to manipulate my mind in to believing that I am wrong. I am hurt, sad, and angry. But I know I will be okay. I always am. I wish you all the best. I consider many of you good friends of mind. I just needed to get this off my chest and tell people who would understand being in a LDR with a Jamaican. Most of my friends here would have a “I told ya so” attitude. Thanks ladies. I love you all. (F)

Oh my gosh Jill I am so sorry for you :( Try to keep your head up. At least it's better that you found out now than 2 years from now. You can e-mail me anytime you want to chat.

We're just getting started so I can't tell you how long it will take - ultimately I guess it's based on how he learns, and when he feels he's ready to take GED test. Tell Lake to hang in there, as it will all pay off!

WOW that is a nice amount of money. I don't know much about grants...do you apply for them kind of like scholarships?

Yeah. When you do FAFSA, your Financial Aid advisor should let you know of all your options (Pell grants and other state grants). Your state website should have a link with all that information on it as well. Does the school that you want to enroll in have their own in-house scholarships? And check out the scholarship book for 2006 as well  get all the free money you can!

Hey Jojo! What are you doing signed on? Shouldn't you two be celebrating (L)?
