YES YES YES Rhonda I cannot wait till Wed. to get on that plane...Oh my gosh I cannot believe how good Adrian has been on getting things done...the 1st day he was back in JA he went right down to apply for that No impediment, but didnt have his birth cert and had to go back the next day he should have that sometime next week, he apply for police cert last week and picked it up yesterday, I had made his medical appointment and he called to confirm it he already has all the medical forms filled out, paid the visa fee today and got all the passport pics...i thought I was gonna have to be on his case to get things done...but he has gotten everything done with out me having to tell him twice  , it really suprised me :D

OMG, congrats to Jamie and Andre. Jamie, dont feel bad about being so prepared. I was pretty prepared too, and our officer looked over EVERYTHING I had, except for the letters and xmas cards to us. Not sure WHY she didnt want to look at those, but everything else she looked over very carefully. SO....you just never know, its best to BE prepared and not need it, than to not have it and then they want it, right? :)

Hmm, I have a question for a discussion, but since its so late, not sure anyone will read it. Anyhow, I will go ahead and ask....

How many of your men are REALLY fed up with all the paperwork that is required in America? I know we are a paperwork society, and for some reason it just really gets to Lake, I mean, like a 6 page form to apply for each job, then another 10 forms when you GET a job, and immigration requires a darned book, etc, etc. You all know what I mean.

Congratulations! I hope the card is in the mail. Did she give you a stamp or do you have to wait for FBI check?

No stamp  She said they don't give those out anymore, we have to wait. Only if there is an emergency and he needs to travel will they give out the stamp.

WOW what a great day

Andre just got a call back from the door company he applied to on Monday. They want him to come in for orientation tomorrow and if he likes what he sees and wants the job he can start on MONDAY!!!! Praise the Lord!!! We have been praying for a steady full time job for so long...it looks like our prayers can turn to praise (L)

Actually I fill out most of the paperwork for Tony  I am so ####### anyways - if you want something done right, do it yourself! I did ALL the Immigration/AOS paperwork. I don't even think Tony has a clue exactly how much paperwork was involved for that. I just filled everything out and then presented it to him and said sign here, here, and here  He doesn't really have a traditional job here so he didn't really have to fill out formal paperwork for that. He's working for my cousin's company so that helps ;)

So no, I guess he's not fed up with the paperwork because he's sheltered from it :P Good topic though - you never realize how much it really is when you're so used to doing it all the time.

Rhonda, I have doing most of the paperwork for Lake too, but he observes, and he is starting to do some. The staffing agency required quite a bit, and he hasnt even started a REAL job, when he will have to go to meetings on insurance, health, 401k stuff. He has a hard time absorbing things that do not make sense to him. I guess I can understand that tho. lol

You get off from work soon, dont you? I pick Lake up from work at 11:30. He is so tired when he gets done, that he cant do his school work. He actually wanted me to do his school work for him last night!

Thanks everyone  You all are sooooo good to me (F)

Congrats sweetie!

All the hell you went through just to get your K1 approved - you definitely deserve this!

So now that Andre is approved, will you two be taking a trip to Jamaica in the near future?

Well I am wondering about this whole name check thing. We would like to go back to JA...maybe end of summer or Christmas but we didn't file AP and I think the name check thing is the same problem that Shemonya (SJB) ran into...and it took them a while to get it all squared away. In fact aren't they STILL waiting for the green card? So to answer your question...as soon as we get the green card we will be heading down  Just might take a while.

Good morning. Congrats Jamie and Andre :luv:

Hopefully your security check won't take long as ours, 7 months after the interview. We e-filed our AP after our interview and it took 60 days to get approved. It may be best to wait for the green card to travel. When does Andre's EAD expire? Damien had an interim EAD which was only good for 240 days so he had to re-apply 90 days before it expired.

Yes, we are STILL waiting for Damien's green. The approval letter dated April 20th stated that it could take 9-12 months to get the card :dead: That doesn't make any sense. Another wait. We are going to USCIS soon to get his passport stamped.

Jamie, Thank God the worst part is over - the interview. And they were nice enough to tell you about the security check. They didn't tell us jack until we got our Congressman involved. I also have a top secret clearance so I had to add Damien when we first got married so he was investigated twice

Happy Friday all.

Good morning everyone,

Jill although I am still in the beginning stages of the process, I will have to say I am just like Rhonda and I take over and fill out all the papaer work, although now that he is in JA and got to look at packet 3 he was a little over whelmed with the pepers that where in there, I told him just to fill out the medical form and a I have all the rest taken care of he said "thank goodness".

Hope everyone has a great day...my wedding shower is today at 5:30pm so I am kinda excieted about that, there should be about 20 people coming, we are having it at my favorite resturant which is a Japanese steak house, where they cook your food in front of you on a habachi grill. SO it should be fun!!

Ok Ok Ok...Here I am! You all have to remember its a 3 HOUR drive and of course we had to stop and celebrate!!!

:dance::dance:WE WERE APPROVED!!! :dance::dance:

Although I am afraid we are stuck in FBI name check hell  Our interviewer said it could be days, weeks, months or even years...yes she herself said years :o But we are approved thats all that matters

Full Report coming shortly...

:dance::luv::thumbs::lol::star:(F):dance::D:P;):yes: Congrats!!!

Ok so as promised here is a complete list of all that we brought for the interview...

- Both of our birth certificates, social security cards, passports, drivers license

- Certified copy of our marriage certificate

- Vaccine Supplement Copy

- EAD Card

- All NOA's from our whole journey (K1, EAD, AOS, Biometrics)

Financial Stuff...

- Updated I-864

- 2005 Tax Return

- Update Employee Letter

- Payroll History for last 4 months

- 3 months of bank statements

Evidence of a relationship

- Lease Agreement in both names

- Lease (rent) reciepts in both names

- Car Title in both names

- 401K statement with Andre as beneficiary

- Power bills in both names

- Phone bills in both names

- Letter from our pastor

- Half dozen mail items sent to our address in both names

- Handful of cards from our wedding

- Wedding Album with 20 or so pics

- 15 random pics from the last few holidays/birthdays

Ok....So we got there about 45 mins early and got through security no problem. Our appoinment was for 9:30 am. There was a lot of people in the waiting room and I could pick out some couples that you knew were there for AOS stuff because they had wedding albums and things like that. The interesting thing was out of the 4 couples that we saw there, 3 of them had lawyers. They were all dressed up like it was Easter Sunday and Andre and I started to panic cause we were dressed casual but nice...but definitely not our Sunday best. There were a lot of people of Russian descent in the waiting room and we didn't understand what they were saying but a lot of them were coming out the doors looking really sad and some were teary so that was a little unnerving...all these sad people who were obviously denied something. We were finally called in at 10:00. The lady was polite but not friendly. We were sworn in and took a seat. She asked to look at both our ID's...she specifically asked for drivers licenses. After that she looked at Andre's passport and took out the I-94. She had a huge file of all our information. She went through asking if things were correct (address, birthday, etc), then she asked all those "No" questions...Andre started to snicker when she asked if he was a prostitue or had ever harbored a prostitute :) After that she asked how we met, how many time I visited JA, when we got married, where we got married, who was there. Then she looked through our album of our wedding. She asked some questions in the pictures...who is this? who is that?

Then she asked what proof we had of our relationship. I started to give her copies of the things we had and she said she didn't need to see them, she just wanted me to tell her what we had. I listed off a couple of things and she said that was fine. She said we were approved but the FBI clearance didn't come back...when it does the green card will be sent in the mail. Have a nice day! She said the last few sentences as she was ushering us out the door. In all we were in there for 11 minutes. She talked extremely fast and never beat around the bush or cracked any sort of smile...no real emotion at all...It was all business. She didn't say anything about lifting conditions...good thing I know about that from VJ.

I was a little pissed that I spent a million hours getting this HUGE AOS package together and making copies of everything and stressing about getting all this evidence and all this stuff together and she looked at NONE of it. NONE!!! I filled out all these stupid forms, got all this update #######, saved mail for ever and she didn't look at a thing. Honestly she only look at our ID's in the beginning and our wedding album. I am grateful that it was easy but I was so prepared I wanted to show someone  I think she knew we were prepared and we weren't sweating it or anything so that she wasn't worried about some sort of scam. She also mentioned that we had one of the most detailed AOS filing package that it made it easy on her.

So that is that...just waiting on the name check to get that green card. I can't believe we are "done" so to speak...what am I going to do while we wait for the next set of forms and petition we have to file???

Thanks for all the well wishes and the prayers...You all are truly a blessing :luv:

Thanks wonderful Jme. I'm glad you and Andre had a pleasant experience. We'll be sending up prayers that the name check goes through quickly! :P

Yes siree!!! How blessed are we!!! Congrats on your approval. Congrats to Andre and the door company position. I have a step sister that owns a door company that she used to work for so you never know...she owns the door company and is still 9-5 at the post office (a job she will not give up because of the benefits). I don't know how she does it. But where where God guides, God provides.

Oh hey, IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!! Wohoo!!!!

OMG! Henry has had it! He got the LARGEST enevelope on his 1st day at work. I had to buy an accordion folder file and we split up all the papers and filled out the forms and filed the copies in the file. And we still have a whole other stack to go thru. He asked me if all of it were really necessary. Like a good American, I said "absolutely! we live in an orderly society! these forms and records help maintain order!":blink::wacko: Wait till we are ready to purchase an "our" home after we sell "my" home, he will faint when his hand starts to cramp from all the signing and paperwork. :P

Oh and he asked me what was up with all the junk mail. He is really scared of the BAGS of junk I get every month. He thought I PAID to receive all those catalogs from JJIll and Boston Proper. He said I need to cancel those subscriptions.:lol:

I don't know about him, he hardly complains sense I'm doing it all...Sometimes he fill it in , but for the most part I am filling it out. We haven't gotten to the filling out forms for employment but I can only imagine

You should see the look on Roy's face when I come home and go through the mail -- I glance at it and throw it all away. You would think I drowned his puppy by the look I get. I think it's so funny. I HATE junk mail and he just doesn't understand why it is not useful......yet.

I am very ####### too and take care of all the paperwork. I am beginning to make Roy take responsibility for more things and the checking account is one of them -- I am very thankful I can always check it on-line :jest: He is going to have to fill out applications by himself so we are practicing all that stuff now.

Shauna -- The DS230 Part II should be attached to the Part I. They should both print out together. I believe Pt I is only two pages and Part II is (something like) four. The "No Impediment" is something they have to get in JA to prove they are not married. We didn't have to do this so sorry, I can't help. Joanna knows all about it -- she will be able to tell you.

Jonesie -- When is that paperwork going out....is it today???? I've been waiting for you.....
