I'm just curious , is it everyone who files AOS & so forth that is required to do a medical ? I have done my biometrics & already received AOS interview date.. but I haven't done a medical nor was I requested to do so , is this normal ? Or will they possibly request it at a later date ? I am F2A btw.

As Jay Jay stated it is usually required for the applicant to have an updated medical, I would advise you to get it filled out and updated to walk with to your interview. i've heard of cases being giving an RFE at the interview for the medical that wasn't submitted initially in the application. Even though the case was approved it was placed on hold until the RFE was fulfilled. I would post a link to the VJ member if i could find it.

Thank you, I will call USCIS tomorrow & inquire.

The instructions for the I-485 say that you need the medical report. How did this happen? I thought it was just a standard part of the I-485...

I know that the interview letter says that a medical report is required at the interview unless previously submitted. So maybe this happens sometimes..

My interview letter said no such thing, if it did I would not have came here to inquire. I also read instructions carefully as it applied to my situation before filing my AOS, it said no such thing. Does not matter anyhow, I was instructed to complete it & send it asap & just walk with another copy to the interview just in case as well.

I thought the medical that was done in your home country is valid for a year and you wouldn't have to do it over only if that year had passed.

That's only applicable when the applicant arrived on a K visa.

Applicants who arrived on other non-immigrant visas did not need an immigrant medical in their home countries since no AOS was anticipated in the first place. The OP is adjusting based on being the minor child of an LPR mother - he/she thus did not enter on a K visa.
