Sorry I'm back again! I've pretty much got my list down. But one thing I am concerned of is my name NOT on our monthly creditcard and bank statements. Yes, my name is on the account for both, but it isn't on the statement mailed to us, so it just says my Husbands name and our address on it.

For the Creditcard, the best I could do is photocopy both of our cards with the matching CC number on it from the same company, and send in statements from it in. Should I print out statements and highlight the transactions of us hitting the same Gas Station when we visit my family back in Ontario? Or would that be bad and they would think I'm in Canada? We'd trip there every 4-5 weeks to visit.

For our Bank statements, I can go in to get a letter written from the bank stating the date I was added to the account, account number and that I'm still currently on the account, never removed.

It's kind of a pain in the butt, and I hope nothing bad will come of it.

For his health insurance, I'm under it but my name isn't on the Insurance cards that we get, just my Husbands. Our son and I are covered though, and my SSN is known on it. The best I can get is a letter from his employer's HR department stating the date I joined his insurance, that I had been on it through 2010, 2011 and 2012, and am currently on it for 2013. With our provider name and account number. Do you think that would suffice? Other than that, I've got tonnes of bills from the hospital some with my name and some with husbands name on it, showing my name on it as being covered for the treatment. Especially from having our baby in December.

Anyone else have to do any of the things I did here because their name wasn't on it? (Letters from the bank/employer?) I'd appreciate all the help!

Thank you for your help! I got the letter from the Bank today, and I'll have to print out all statements too. Our bank too also doesn't allow both of our names on the statements either, only the Primary account holder can have their name on the statements sent to the house. So I got the gentleman to write that in the letter too explaining it! :)

FWIW my wife and I have NO joint credit card accounts. We do have one joint bank account but she has a separate one also. I am the beneficiary of her personal account if she dies. We attached a copy of that bank document. Some utilities are in her name, some in my name, NONE are in both names. ALL show the same address. So what? Some people have no credit cards.

More important are things like health insurance, life insurance, emergency contact information kept by third parties (such as doctors and schools) mortgage and/or lease, joint tax returns. Utilities, credit cards and such can be used to show a common address and are pretty worthless for anything else. We received our ROC without an interview and never had any of the documents you are worried about.

If you have a child, make sure BOTH parents are listed as emergency contacts and BOTH are signing such things as permission slips, even for field trips and things. I was the one that signed ALL docuemts for Pasha. This indicates that a third party officially recognizes ME as the parent of this child and that the mother has given me the authority to make decisions about the child affecting his health and school. THAT is powerful evidence. A fraud marriage may generate a jouint checking account with little money going through it, but woudl a woman committing fraud turn over the welfare of her children to another person? We included a lot of such evidence. make sure the school lists BOTH names on all correspondence.

My husband's name and my name are on our statements with 2 different Banks. I guess some banks have different rules. Anyway, I'm glad you got the letter from your Bank. Wish you all the best!! :-)

Yes I have everything else I can get (Joint Taxes, Separate Utility bills, Car Insurance, Covered under Health and dental Insurance, explaining why my name isn't on our mortgage)

I'm just getting as much as I can from number 3. in the 'Evidence of a Relationship' information on their website.

I'm cutting it close with my Exp. Date since I had to wait 30 days to get my little ones birth certificate. And yes, it has both our names on it! Thank you for your help though, I know what I'm talking about may be low on the list, but I'm trying to include anything I can to avoid an RFE since one of the BIG things; my name on the mortgage; is something I don't have. I am however on the Homeowners insurance as covered.

Why do people worry so much about this issue. My parents had a mortgage and my Mother was never on it for its life of 30 years. Given that most recent immigrants have no credit history, it would be totally stupid to put them on a mortgage just to show the USCIS that the relationship is legit and pay a much higher interest rate. If there was a recipe for what makes a relationship legit then every scammer would use it. Live your lives as YOU see fit and as YOUR situations dictate. Not to produce a piece of paper or some other evidence for the USCIS. I am trusting that they have been doing this and are good at weeding out the legit marriages from those used for immigration fraud. I guess I'll know if I am right in about 45 days when we file our ROC with our evidence.

Even though you are not on the mortgage, are you listed on the Deed? You should be on the Deed not for the sake of USCIS, but for estate planning and asset transfer. I look at all the evidence everybody mentions for ROC and no one seems to mention wills, powers of attorney, or estate planning and I think those would hold more weight than a utility bill or mortgage as it shows you are planning your future together and how the assets are to be dealt with should one partner die.

Relax, IMHO I think you have enough,

Dave

My husband (and I) bought a house in 2010. I was already here on my K1 in Sept 2009, and got my GC in July 2010 and though the house was purchased in Sept 2010 I am NOT on the deed or the mortgage. This is because I had no credit. No credit or low credit = high interest so instead Tony is on the house.

I did have to sign something as his spouse (no idea what because I didn't sign it, he did under Power of Attorney) so I included a copy of that signed by him as my POA as well as the POA.

The lack of my name on the mortgage or deed wasn't mentioned... at least that I know of because I wasn't interview for ROC (or AOS but that was before the purchase).
