Important Question about Port Of Entry

So we got our IR-1 Visa and we are ready to travel this coming Tuesday. Our original flight was cancelled by the airline so we had to re-book and the new flight has us entering the United States in Atlanta GA then on to our final destination of Chicago IL.

My question is about that unopened yellow envelope given to my husband by the American Consulate when he was issued the visa. Do we hand that in to immigration in Atlanta being that is our first POE to the USA or do we keep it and hand it in when we get to our final destination of Chicago???

Also one other question is that my daughter moved after we were issued the visa and it was her address we are using in the USA to receive my husbands green card and social security card. They tell us the documents will arrive in the mail so now that she is no longer living at the address we listed on our application will the post office forward them to her new address or should we let the immigration at the airport know about the address change once we arrive?

You give the yellow-ish envelope to CBP when you have to go through immigration. It will probably be in Atlanta.

I would let them know once you arrive. I think they can change the address to forward the card and SSN card and all of that too. But I do not know this for sure. You can call CBP to find out for sure. Make sure to tell them that your flight is too soon to get the consulate to change it.

You are going to hand in the envelope in Atlanta, your first stop in the US. You should also advise them of your new address. A follow up call to the USCIS would not hurt either. I do not believe docs such as GC's can be forwarded.
