Hi guys,

Quick question. I will be using a cosponsor and will be submitting all his pay stubs requirements, bank statement, tax returns, letter of employment, and I1-134 form.

Now my question is, along with MY I-134 form and tax returns, do I have to submit a bank statement as well?? Please note I am the petitioner.

Thanks a lot!

No not really since with your proof of not enough income is the reason for the cosponsor.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

Thanks for the reply. That's what I thought too. I just read somewhere that I have to submit evidence for myself. Not sure why.

Any other input?

The petitioner is always the primary sponsor and always required to provide their own support form. London is the only exception to this rule that I am aware of.

Bank statements are not needed if you are not listing assets or do not need to show deposits to prove income. Provide your form, tax transcript and employment documentation, if you are currently employed.

Thanks for the reply. I am currently employed overseas. Do you think I need to submit an employment letter and pay stubs as well even if I am using a co sponsor?

No need because the overseas income doesn't count for the affidavit of support.

You would fill out the I-134 form, provide tax transcript and employment documentation, even if you aren't employed. Your Co Sponsor would include the same documentation. Co Sponsor will also need to include passport copy or birth certificate copy. Good Luck :)

Please note I will be leaving my current job anyways, once I move to the USA with my fiance.

We are also in the same situation. We are living together overseas and will move to the US together once the visa is at hand. What types of proof of support will you be preparing?

We are planning to show bank statements in our local bank here (not in US). Will that help? And we are hoping his former job in the US will have him back and receive a letter of employment that we can show during the interview.

Please post your thoughts on our situation. Thanks.

The foreign income will not count, and neither will the letter of future employment. You will need a co-sponsor. Showing your bank statements and letter of future employment CAN help them accept your co-sponsor as they can see you have been employed overseas and have a job prospect in the US.
