Passport old name greencard new name?

If you changed your name after marriage does your greencard specify your old name on it also? I am wondering what will happen when I will try to get back in the US with the passport on the old name and the greencard with a different name on it.

Consider getting a new passport under your new name. Until you do so, carry your marriage certificate with you when traveling internationally.

To the USCIS, your greencard is proof enough of your residence, so they will not care what is on your passport all that much.

The issue is that your airline/ship ticket must be issued to the name on your passport, so the only place where you might encounter problems are at check-in counters, and carrying your marriage license should suffice to explain the discrepancy.

It's not an issue unless you don't book your ticket in your passport name. I've travelled dozens of times under the same scenario. Never an issue. Not once. The GC has your former passport name embedded in the information anyway. Plus the airlines capture all that information electronically, beforehand, whether you enter it yourself online, or when they request it at the counter.
