So I got the approval letter(NAO2) from USCIS dated Dec 14 on Dec 16 informing that case has been forwarded to NVC. I have been calling them everyday in January who told me it takes 15 business days, apparently they haven't had 15 business days as of Jan 15(I know right....where can I sign up for this job!)

Finally, yesterday(Jan 16) they "received" the case but will take 15-20 business days for a case number. I LOST my mind, is this considered normal?? Are these people living in 2013,the age of iphones and 4g LTE, 50GB data speed! I feel like they have a typewriter upstairs with a 75 yr old typing these cases into the system.

I'm appalled by their service, are they held accountable for their jobs? The phone operator Jazmine goes "these time-frames are what it is and can't be changed,SIR", that put me over the edge, asked for supervisor contact and gave me nvcresearch email id and to put attn: Ben on subject line. I feel this is all waste of time with "Ben" being a fictional character that goes straight to trash. I told Jazmine,USCIS taking time to do background check is understandable but getting a damn case number from NVC in 2 months is ridiculous.

Waiting for your loved one is excruciating itself, dragging the process as simple as a case number should NOT take 2 months. Now onto my questions,I hope someone could shed some light into this

1. Is there anything that I can do at this point, should I proceed with an email to "Ben"?

2. Do they organize these cases based on visa category? If so,shouldn't my case be top 3 category?

3. If you want to complain about NVC, who can you contact, I want to do my part to make this process faster in future

4. Is NVC subcontracted by private firm?

Your help is appreciated,I feel better now!

the "20 days" thing is standard. Get used to hearing that... you will hear that everytime you call. NVC do work fast, due to the holidays in dec. there are fewer working days at NVC within the last 45 days.

Here's the goodnews! they work fast, Call back tomorrow and I'm sure you'll get a case number from them. They have been processing AOS and IV packets in 8-12 business days.

Don't waste your time all they will tell you is to "WAIT" I called 2 tier support and was on hold for 1 hour and 45 minutes to be told to wait 45 times in a 10 minute conversation and do not believe anything uscis tells you on first tier the times have doubled if the say 10 days it will be 20 if they say 5 months it will be 10. And there is nothing we can do about it they are to worried about processing all these illegal amnesty bs that they have forgotten the people doing this legally. So just find something else to do with you time because the Uscis could care less if you got your visa or not.

Dont take it too personally. Generally it may take up 1 month to get the case number. Some get in 10-15 days, and some get in 1 month or some get little more late. I understand system may look unorganized. There may be delay due to holidays in Dec, as alot of people go on holiday for a week. Due to this reason, your case process could be further delayed.

Since nvc didnt get my case for so long, they asked me to call uscis to make sure the case was sent to them physically. Talked to immigration officer and was told it was sent out on Dec 14. I know usps is slow, but they aint that bad. NVC is so disorganized that I cant believe they get away with it

To RR136, I got my I-130 approved on Nov 30th, NVC received it on 17th Dec and they put my case in their system on Jan 3rd.

I tried doing everything to push them, but nothing worked. The best thing is let them work at their own pace. There is no other way out.

Good luck for the rest of the process.

NVC process takes 2-3 months from NVC receipt to interview, so be prepared with these and nothing can be done.

1. Is there anything that I can do at this point, should I proceed with an email to "Ben"?

You are free to email Ben, but its not going to get you a case number any faster.

2. Do they organize these cases based on visa category? If so,shouldn't my case be top 3 category?

I dont know how they prioritize cases. Just that they have categories- Family based (first, second, third, fourth) and employment based, and a waiting list.

3. If you want to complain about NVC, who can you contact, I want to do my part to make this process faster in future

NVC is a A Department of State facility so you can write to your congressman. (If there were more people working, the process would be faster.)

4. Is NVC subcontracted by private firm? No. Its a government agency.

I understand your frustrations about the excessive processing times, however in 2012, NVC received 4.2 million applications. 288,000 of them were family first 706,000 were family second. So theres some perspective for you to keep in mind- you are not the only application they are working on.

Keep in mind that they are giving you standard answers. I was told the same thing each day that I called, which was EVERY DAY until I got our case numbers. Take a look at my signature below for the date it was received and then the date I got our case numbers. Just call each day, on one of the calls you will likely be pleasantly surprised to be given an answer. Most of the advice on these boards involved encouraging us to stay on top of our cases and to know that the information we are given one day won't necessarily be the same on the next day! Be patient, but be persistent! My files arrived on December 17th to NVC and they were scanned into the system on January 2nd. Keep in mind holidays in there. They say "15 days" or "20 days" but it is not an exact date at any point!

You sir are beginning to be a real sore spot on these boards. If you don't have anything constructive to say then please just refrain from posting.

Every post I see from you is complaining about the Amnesty Act which you don't even know how it works (as evident from your other postings).

Post your timeline so we can see where you are in this process and to see if you are even entitled to be complaining like this all the time.

Don't keep giving people misinformation as they are trying to deal with this rather trying time in their lives and they sure in the hell don't need to hear your disillusioned, over exaggeration about the process.

People need hope and people to talk to that share their pain, not negative comments telling them they will be doubling every waiting time they say. I just hope people are smart enough to see your posts for what they are and not as gospel.

Sorry if I seem rude, but the constant complaining isn't helpful to you or anyone else.

So just find something else to do with you time because the Uscis could care less if you got your visa or not.

WOW...2 months!!! I don't mean to make matters worse for you but I received my hardcopy with my MNL number on it today. Well yesterday considering the time. I received the NOA2 ON Jan 3 via email and hardcopy of that on JAN 8. Then again my MNL number just yesterday. God is good. Not sure if you can do this but you should try to email them and request it. Whomever is state side should email NVCInquiry.state.gov and simply state that you cannot proceed without a hardcopy of your MNL number. Hey it worked for me. I'm actually pleased at the turnaround time. My fiance couldn't be more happy too. Good luck and God Bless us All!!

finally our case got completed on 12th of december 2012. since one of the other member, whose case got completed on 11th of december 2012 , was scheduled for an interview on 15th of january 2013 at mumbai consulate,we felt really hopeful. we also expected our interview sometime in january but we heard nothing from NVC. soon we started hoping for a date in february. we kept calling nvc EVERY day but was rewarded with the same reply after waiting for 30 mins. one fine day when we called up nvc they informed that all the february dates at mumbai consulate are filled up ,we stand no chance for an interview in February and they cannot say anything about March. So we have to spend another month of pain and agony....

This makes our wait for interview 78 days and still counting ( not sure whether we'll receive a date in March) from the day our case got completed.............

Brief bio: "apple" is US citizen in Boston, "ginger" is Indian citizen in Kolkata.
