Any of them will work. Xoom, Western Union or Moneygram. All work fine, and I've used them all. Xoom you have to do online, but can deposit right into your account. The others can do online, but also easy enough to find a Moneygram or Western Union affiliate nearly anywhere on the planet it seems these days, so can do in person too.

I have been using xoom for many money transfers to Geh. Its safe , fast and many places for her to pick up the cash. Also you can get a coupon code for a free transfer every month. I not able to get the code from work at this moment. I know someone on VJ would know the code for January , so you can save a few dollar's . I also setup my bank account to transfer money as well, makes it alittle cheaper. And yes the exchange rate sucks . Just something you have to live with when doing a International money transfer. :(

You can, even with Xoom, send US Dollars. The cost is a bit more (but still free if you had a free code). Then they get a much better exchange rate there. That's what I did last time. Just make SURE that the bank or dispensary gives USD. Far too often, they try and give out pesos and who knows if they're giving the best rate.

I use Chase Bank, debit card and they will not allow me to use my card for any online electronic money transfers. I have to use an actual Western Union physical location and then pay very high ATM fees at a truck stop since I am a truck driver. Anyone else with Chase run into this problem? Any suggestions?

Best bet would be to go online banking and set up your account with Xoom, Chase may even have a transfer agreement with a Philippine partner bank to do direct transfers. I bank with Wells Fargo and they charge $5 per transaction to move it from my account to my daughters account in BDO. Check it out with a banker next time you have a layover or down time. Call ahead to see so you don't waste your time if they don't. Best of luck!
