Greetings.

My wife and I have been waiting patiently for a decision on our I-485 application since filing back in May 2012.

Today we received the text / email notification that our case status has been updated. Now...here's the thing...the status remains the same at INITIAL REVIEW, but it states that our "address was changed relating to the I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS that you filed."

Well, we have not changed our address with USCIS. We are still at our current address since filing the applications. So...we have not made any active changes to the address that USCIS has on record for us.

We had a call to the USCIS customer service center hotline to verify what was going on here. I spoke to a Tier 2 individual and confirmed that our address on record was still current and had not been changed.

So, with that being said...is there a possibility that USCIS made an error and this status update is incorrect...or is there a possibility of identity theft? Or something completely different?

I am curious if anyone else has run into this issue. Let me know what you think.
