White House calls NRA video repugnant, cowardly

WASHINGTON — The White House says a National Rifle Association video that makes reference to President Barack Obama's daughters is "repugnant and cowardly."

Obama spokesman Jay Carney says most Americans agree that a president's children should not be used as "pawns in a political fight." Carney was referring to an online video from the pro-gun lobby that calls Obama an "elitist hypocrite" for having armed Secret Service agents protect his daughters at school while voicing skepticism about installing armed guards in all schools.

The NRA released the video ahead of Obama's announcement Wednesday of proposals for curbing the nation's gun violence.

In a related matter, NBC news criticized the NRA video for including an image of "Meet the Press" moderator David Gregory, who prompted an investigation by District of Columbia prosecutors after displaying a high-capacity ammunition magazine during an interview with NRA executive vice president Wayne LaPierre last month. Prosecutors decided not to file charges.

"NBC News firmly objects to the use of our journalists in any political ad," the network said in a statement. "David Gregory's role as moderator of `Meet the Press' is to ask tough questions of guests representing all sides of the issues."

But a video can't be "cowardly", that is a human attribute.

Come on - it's the White House that said it, not you.

Blame the White House Staff, for improper use of language, aye?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

It's repugnant to hide your children behind 12 armed guards and a staff of secret service agents then tell the people you lead that they are repugnant to call for armed security for their own children and that they are cowards for pointing this out.

i don't get it.

Say that each child of a governor and the President has a couple of guards assigned to them - it's probably more than that but let us just go minimal and say it's 2. Now, we have some 75 million children in this country. How do you propose we come up with those 150 million guards we are going to need to match the protection that the President's and the Governor's children have for each child in the country? Does each child get an armored vehicle, too? Police escorts for trips to the school, the mall and the ice cream parlor? I swear, you big government types really want to blow this country up.

Obama spokesman Jay Carney says most Americans agree that a president's children should not be used as "pawns in a political fight."

That is true no matter who the POTUS is. If the NRA has an issue with the POTUS they should take it with him. It was true for W and it should be true for Obama: Leave wife and children out of the political game.

Many are concerned with the content of the video, whereas IMHO what is repugnant and cowardly is that the NRA used the POTUS children to make a video, at all. But then again, 'good-taste' and 'the NRA' are seldom used in the same sentence.

In the end, the video speaks more of the kind of individuals who are at the leadership of the NRA than the subjects which it is supposed to portray.

Someone should start a poll, whose children are more likely to be kidnapped or killed? Regular children or the POTUS children?
