caveat: if you already sent all of his original civil documents with the exception of the police clearance certificate, in with the I-130,

it is quite possible to get NVC to pull them out of the I-130 and have them added into the DS-230. There are several ways to do this.

One is via written request when submitting the DS-230.

Another is via NVC Supervisor engagement, over the telephone, after sending in the DS-230.

I dunno though, you need a signed DS-230 from yer husband - so SOMETHING has to be shipped from Russia, aye?

Thank you for all your help! I will have to go this route if husband won't be able to ship his original birth certificate- that's the only problem I see. With our I- 130 we provided certified copies of all the original documents, everything but police records and military records.

I know. the sad part is that a month ago I have sent him a link which had ALL this instructions for the documents required and forms, etc, identical to what we need to submit right now, but the link was on US Embassy page in Russia and for those getting ready to go to the interview. So he decided to wait until interview is scheduled to gather all required documents and translate them ( basically to procrastinate, because of all the holidays, was his excuse) - and now just to think that this is the last thing that is holding us back...I truly hope he will be here in time for the baby to be born! :'-( it must be just my hormones but I am ready to cryyyy... :)))))

1. original document or

2. certified copy (certified by issuing entity)

so, have a rethink?

I attempted to get an original birth certificate back from the USCIS that I sent in error, I needed it for the NVC stage. I was told in order to get any original documents back from them I had to file a G-884 form and it would take up to 120 days to get it back. It was easier and faster just to get a new one. headbonk.gif

Yes of course I remember about DS 230! :) Thank YOU! :)

What about documents translation? With I - 130 I just had a friend translate them for me and sign the form she is fluent in English and notarized it- should I do the same now with all the documents or should I have my husband obtain translations in Russia?

Tell your husband to go to DHL office or Fedex office, he can send it from there. my husband have sent me originals and he sent it by DHL. don't go through Russian post, first they are very slow and it will take like 1 month before you receive , second your package may get lost. i don't like them.

your friend can translate as long as he or she has the right to do so, I mean a translator. if you want your husband to translate it also in Russia and send it to you, its very cheap over there. my husband translated the marriage certificate, everything and other documents in Russian language in Russia and it cost only 400p / page . and after translating it, you will have to notarize it as you've said. so either way, as long as they translate it very well and don't forget that the translator must write a letter confirming that he or she do the translation very well and everything he or she wrote there is the exact translation of the Russian version

Thank you, that's exactly what I told him to do, plus I've discovered there is UPS in his city in Russia. Postal Office in that country is weird, sometimes I get packages from there within 2 weeks, and sometimes it takes them months to deliver or never at all. With no way to track. :/

Where is your husband in Russia? :) Nothing is "cheap" in Russia. It costs me nothing in the United states, and it worked for me before ( for everything I have done through USCIS - just want to make sure NVC is the same way ;) )

Thank you for all your help

He is in Stavropol. I have the address for DHL for him! ;) Krasnodar is like 5 hours drive on a car, I used to fly there from Moscow, since it's cheaper then to fly to Stavropol direct- and then drive on a taxi. Not a very pleasant ride! ;)
