Hello everyone.

We are in process of I- 130. I am the petitioner.

So, after I have mailed Affidavit of Support, which I thought is the last step before interview is scheduled for my husband in Russia, I got an e-mail from NVC with the following message:

"The National Visa Center is waiting for an Immigrant Visa Application to be submitted for this case.

The Principal Applicant and any other Applicants who will be accompanying him or her to the United

States must now download and complete an Immigrant Visa Application; please visit the following

website for instructions:

http://immigrantvisas.state.gov (click on the link for "submit Visa application and civil documents")

Please submit the Immigrant Visa Application form(s) and required supporting documents for each

Applicant in one package to the National Visa Center; sending this information separately will delay

your visa."

Basically, they want us to fill out form DS-230, then my husband will sign it, mail it to me and I have to mail it to the NVC, correct? Do I just follow these instructions found here ? Do we submit all the forms listed there? I was under the impression all those documents are required at the interview in the embassy in Russia? Am I missing something here? Do we submit originals? Or translated copies again?

Thanks for all your help!

ya, yer missing all of the NVC processing and document intake steps.

DS-230 - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html

I-864 - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3730.html

General NVC stuff - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_1335.html

Handling AOS/I-864 is one piece of three.

Sorry but you HAVE to send those items to NVC.. None of what you sent was required at USCIS. And they only want photo copies. NVC is a whole different branch and everything listed is required to get case complete and a interview. So you will have to redo and all originals. not at interview.

So don't be confused. Have you already done the payments and Affidavit of support (I-864)?

Nope thats K1's that bring all originals and present at interview. IR1/CR1 we go through NVC and present to them to add to our casefile.

Yes, all the payments are done. So NVC needs ORIGINAL documents listed here?

Required Documents

Original documents, photocopies, and translations (if required, as explained above) of the following documents must be submitted to the NVC for you and each family member immigrating with you to the United States.

Birth Certificates

Court and Prison Records

Deportation Documentation

Marriage Certificates

Marriage Termination Documentation

Military Records

Petitioner Documents

Photocopy of Valid Passport Biographic Data Page

Photographs

Police Certificates

Adoption Documentation

In Russia birth certificate looks like a passport, it's the only one you ever get, and my husband told me in Russia Post Office refuses to send any official original documents ( passports, birth certificates, etc. ) :crying::blink:

Check on the Russia forum to see what others did to get this done. Or you could explain that they can't send the document out and they may let you present at interview. have you called NVC and ask them what to do. I am sure they would know what to do. I know there are many from Russia here ask them.

Thanks you heading to Russian forum now! ;)

Trust me lovecyercat I feel your pain. My husband has tried 3 times to send me all the documents. Each time a failed attempt. Lost by flood, lost by thief, last attempt FedEx the envelope opened by Nigerian customs and documents replaced with blank sheets. Yes I received blank sheets.

So I have asked NVC to waive me having to present the originals at interview. My poor husband says "America is not for him" he thinks he will never come.So its been 9 days since NVC has had my DS-230 package (I did have extra evidence to add to case-file, DS-230 form unsigned , marriage certificate and passport pics). I know it will be okay and approved and case complete but this missing document has delayed us now 4 months.

Hang in there.

caveat: if you already sent all of his original civil documents with the exception of the police clearance certificate, in with the I-130,

it is quite possible to get NVC to pull them out of the I-130 and have them added into the DS-230. There are several ways to do this.

One is via written request when submitting the DS-230.

Another is via NVC Supervisor engagement, over the telephone, after sending in the DS-230.

I dunno though, you need a signed DS-230 from yer husband - so SOMETHING has to be shipped from Russia, aye?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
