Hey guys. I just talked to my fiance and he has gone to the court in the village nearest to where he lives to get a list of what we need to get married. They judge has never done a marriage like ours and told him he would have to check and for my fiance to come back. This worries me a little. I remember some of you have said it is easier to get married in a city like Casablanca because they are used to the mixed marriage. I mentioned this to my fiance and he said he is not sure if we are allowed to get married in another city or not. So he is going to check this out but I'm just wondering if any of you that got married in Morocco got married in a city other than where your fiance is from. I'm just a little bit worried about being the first mixed marriage this judge has seen! This is a small village. Thanks for any input you can give me.

Hi Abbi! I know it has been done. We almost went to tangiers. Have him contact an adoul or two in Casablanca and see. Or even Marrakech. The courts in fez have done numerous ones as well as our adoul. The only thing about the smaller courts is that it may take longer. Ours was done 9 days from my landing.

You must be excited and nervous. I know you are leaving soon! You'll do fine. You'll be tired but fine! Waiting to hear your story....

Thanks HappyToBe - Yes he is going to contact other courts and see what they say. I was just asking to see if anyone had done it before and it is good to know that they have. It just made me a tiny bit nervous when he said the judge did not know the requirements because he had never done that kind of marriage before.

Yes I'm getting very excited. A little nervous because I know this is going to be quite an experience getting married over there. But I am ready for it. I still have a little longer to wait as my trip got postponed due to a schedule conflict but it is getting closes to time to go. I will definitely post updates and let everyone know the process I go through. I hope it helps others. You certainly helped me by posting yours! Thanks again.

Abbi, my husband said to try in El Jadida first as they are in the same "district" as your fiance. They should have some familiarity with mixed marriages there.

Thanks. We spent some time in El Jadida so I am familiar with it. I will mention it to my fiance to go there and see what he can find out. Thanks for the suggestion. I was thinking in terms of Casablanca but maybe El Jadida would be better.

I hope you are doing ok. I'm hoping that you get good news and get to be reunited with your husband very soon.

He said if you do it in El Jadida, your fiance won't have to change a bunch of papers, but if you do go to another city (Marrakech or Casa), then a bunch of papers would have to be changed.... I didn't have him go into details because the Moroccan way of things confuses me sometimes... LOL

I am still waiting for some papers to come so I can submit the file.... All in due time, I guess. We talk a few times a day with Skype, so it really helps to see his sweet face and hear his voice. Although it was hard to leave him, it was better this time.... maybe because his computer is working better.... LOL God-willing, we will both have good news with this journey!!! We are a little older, and want to try and have a child... but if that is not possible, then it is the way it is. Being apart, we know it is not going to happen.... so, fingers-crossed!!!!!

Thank you so much for finding that out for me. I think that will be a big help to us. And I know what you mean about the Moroccan way of doing things being confusing sometimes!

I hope that your case goes smoothly and fast and you two can be together soon. I know it is horrible to be away from the ones we love. Thank goodness for Skype! It was hard for me to leave last time even though I knew I was coming back soon. I can't imagine how it will be this time after we are married. Don't want to think of that yet. I'm hoping our marriage can accomplished as quickly as yours was. I'll be sure to keep you updated. I'm hoping that it can be done quickly but I am prepared for it take longer.

Thanks again and I wish you the best of luck in getting your husband home and starting your family!
