With a CR1 can I travel outside the US?

Hi, I arrive to the US on december 2012 with a CR1 visa, my wife is an US citizen. My wife and I want to travel on a cruise on a few days, but I'm still waiting for my green card o the letter from the NCV or USCIS that says I am a conditional resident. My question is: Can I travel with my CR1 visa while I wait for my green card?

I wouldn't leave the country unless you have the GC on hand. I beleive you should have received it a few weeks after entry to USA ( someone else correct me if i am wrong).

Day 11/14 Mailed AOS Package

Day 11/16 AOS Package Accepted

Day 11/20 Received Text with receipt numbers

Day 11/21 Checks cashed

Day 11/26 -Letter for Biometrix - its on 12/20

Day 12/20/ went to do biometrics, turn away as wife has a cut on thumb - will try to walk in next week

Day 12/28 - bio metrics done ! - walked in San Diego as we were visiting my in laws.

Day 1/4/2013 - received text/email that case is ready to be scheduled for interview !

Day 1/15/2013 - received hard copy letter to let us know interview is on 2/12 !

Day 1/17/2013 - received text/email that EAD has been approved

Day 1/26/2013 - received EAD card

Day 2/12 - interview done - approved on spot!

The visa endorsed with a CPB entry stamp acts as a temporary green card until the actual card arrives. However, other countries do not have to recognize this and can demand an actual green card.

September 2, 2011: AOS invoice received, OPTIN email for EP sent
September 7, 2011: Paid AOS bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 9, 2011)
September 8, 2011: OPTIN email accepted, GZO number assigned
September 10, 2011: Emailed AOS package
September 12, 2011: IV bill invoiced
September 13, 2011: Paid IV bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 14, 2011)
September 14, 2011: Emailed IV package
October 3, 2011: Emailed checklist response (checklist generated due to typo on Form DS-230)

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

08/20/2012: Mailed VSC request for Upgrade to CR1

08/23/2012: Opened Request with USCIS for Upgrade to CR1

08/27/2012: Got Email confirming upgrade to IR1/CR1

11/13/2012: NOA2

11/19/2012: Choice of Agent email sent

You can travel with teh stamp on the passport.

Not necessary. You are fine to travel with the stamp.

The temporary green card is what I described in my post above (visa itself with a CBP entry stamp on the page next to the visa, not a special stamp in of itself).

Depending on the country or countries being traveled to, inspection personnel of a certain country can demand an actual green card and can refuse entry for not having one. The temporary green card allows for entry back to the US; other countries are under no obligation to recognize a temporary green card.
