Any sort of visa for stranded tourist?

Please read the previous posts about the cost. It's totally reasonable (well not "reasonable" but believable) I've paid $4400 before for a one-way to Australia on an emergency last-minute flight.

"No friends" can depend on the person and what they were doing while in the US. And "no friends" simply might mean no-one willing to loan/give him that much money. It can also be insulting to others who have had a hard time adjusting to life in the US. It can take a while to make good friends when you're not happy, trapped in the house, unable to drive, unable to speak the language etc etc.

Also, just because the person the OP is asking about says they're from NZ doesn't mean they speak English. We have a lot of non-english speaking persons in Australia/NZ.

Again, this is all assuming it's legit. I wouldn't give a random money (even for charity these days unless I see them - too many scams around).

p.s. It is not a requirement of VJ to be "on a visajourney" to post (that I am aware of or many members would be gone once their processes are finished). So whether they are or not isn't relevant as their qn is immigration related it belongs here.

my first post was a bit harsh, i agree and apologise, i got emotional, i am a businessman and i have been scammed a number of times before. and i recognise the format.

ok, i agree with u on some points. assuming this is legit, the person doesn't have to pay for a ticket, self-deportation is free.

i agree with your definition of "no friends", some friends have shared some of their experiences.

*just thinking aloud* there is a tourist who doesn't have money, may not be able to speak english with no 'friend' and manages to post online in english ...well anything is possible, but i would advice this tourist not to go on such an adventure again. :)

ps: i didnt mean any harm asking. @Newbie, all your immigration questions are welcome. :)

New York to Auckland - tickets start at about $1350 if booked two weeks in advance, as of today. If they're on the west coast then the price drops to just under $1000. Obviously, the price varies according to the time of year, the cost of fuel, etc., but those are the prices today.

The New Zealand Embassy won't provide financial assistance for citizens of New Zealand except in a "real emergency", and subject to very strict conditions.

Sounds like the OP is being scammed. This usually happens when someone hacks into someone elses email account and then sends "Help! I'm stranded!" messages to everyone in the hacked email's address book. I've gotten several email messages very much like the one the OP is describing. I even got one once from Marc Ellis's email address!

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!

Ya, I got that email from Marc as well. Priceless !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

This would be the first time they are stuck in the USA.

Haha, that's true. I bet the person didn't tell anyone they were going on the trip though, because they are spontaneous! And you haven't heard from them in a while!

I just recently had experience wtih this! I was gone to see the doctor, and I had to leave the night before, because my appointment was so early in the morning, and the drive was a 2 & 1/2 hours. When I returned home I found several disturbing emails. The first email was that a friend of mine, who had been a friend for many years was stranded in France with no money. Could I send a little money, so that he could get home? We then got another email from his wife telling us it was a scam, and that her husband was not in France, and did not need money to get home. I think there was a third email related to this, but I can't remember the details of that one. Anyway I wrote them an email, saying, "So, you are not in France, and I believe you, and you don't need money to get home because you are not stranded. Evidently everyone on his email contact list got these emails saying that he was standed, didn't have any money, and could they please send money to help get him home! I am very thankful that the wife wrote emails immediately telling everyone how it was, that it was a scam, and don't worry about that! :)

Hi, does anyone know if there's a type of visa (temp or permanent) for a person in America who has no money, their government income from their home country has been stopped, they have no friends or family that could help them, and their own countries embassy has said they are unable to fly them back to their country of citizenship. Is there a visa that can help them with staying in America and getting shelter and help?

The government income from their home country will not be reinstated unless they return back. Which they can't do because no one will help them with flights, not even their countries own embassy.

So strange: how did that person come here? ON a one-way ticket?
