Hi guys,

Im in major need of advice here,

I have my medical scheduled for tomorrow in London and right on time have started with some kind of cold/virus.It would cost £200 to cancel so Im going to go and see what happens.

I was already freaking out due to my mental health history,Ive done all I can there....got a letter from my GP stating I am not a danger to myself nor anyone else,I had my vaccinations 12 days ago(I reackon thats why Im feeling crappy)

Anyway if I fail what can I do?

I know she will prob want me to see a psych doc, but what if I fail on being overweight and having high blood pressure/the fact Im unwell right now?

As usual Ive snowballed what could happen and landed myself at fail and unable to be with my husband :bonk:

Heeeeeeeelp.

I don't think a cold is going to fail you. The blood pressure thing might have the doctor request further information from your GP. That does not mean fail. Some have had to get their doctor to provide some previous BP reading data and a note saying his care of you has not indicated you have a need for blood pressure medication. Whatever is needed can be faxed back to Knightsbridge by your GP. THen your medical results will be sent to the embassy. Since the lab results take a few days to get back to Knightsbridge anyway, your BP issue could be resolved by then if your GP is quick. (is quick part of NHS?)

Just be calm and quit stirring yourself up. Part of his mental evaluation is his interaction with you when he is chatting about the weather or something. So be a happy, cheerful soul. Practice calming yourself for the BP check...take a big cleansing breath through your nose, then very slowly exhale through your lips til you're past empty. Slow chest breathing--it's an old Lamaze childbirth class thing. Helps for BP and getting jabs too.

Good luck for tomorrow! I'm sure you will be fine, just try and stay calm :) Think about the future with your husband and being free of this long wait and that will sooth you!

Let us know how you get on, I'll be a week behind you as my medical is next Friday :)

Having a cold/ high BP/ being overweight etc will not fail you.

Depending on the severity of your mental issues, they may send you to a psych, but all that is is a chat for an hour or so.

Thanks so much for the support guys, Im such a worrier...remember I worried about visiting Eric,I was convinced I'd be denied at entry,in reality I walked through immigration with no problems atall, weeks of worrying for nothing!!!! :bonk:

Ive looked around on VJ and havent found anyone denied a visa because of problems similar to mine so Im going to try find comfort in that,I so want my BP to be normal tomorrow but I doubt it will be as I tend to get white coat syndrome.

Does anyone know if I'll be able to see a private psych doc in my home town if need be?

Its a 600 mile round trip for me,so if I can avoid London again until interview date that would be fab.

Thanks again, you have no idea how much your words help

You will NOT need a private psych doctor. A medical doctor who knows you well has stated you are not a threat. Stop borrowing trouble, as my grandma used to say. Go to you medical with cheerful confidence and come back here afterward IF there are issues. Let's not fight a battle until we know the enemy. There may not be one. You will not be failed tomorrow and kicked out with no hope.

Hopefully you have the US side sorted out re medical coverage.

The cold wouldn't be an issue, as you've probably discovered by now - I had a cold (or something similar that wouldn't shift) prior too, explained it at the medical but the Doctor just laughed and said it was fine.

Edit: I also have high blood pressure, although I'm not currently taking anything (I really ought to get on that). At the medical I had my my blood pressure taken twice, the second being somewhat lower and accepted.
