according to CNN -- Olympia Snow (R-Maine) and every VJ poster's favorite Ted Kennedy (D-Massachusetts) are early winners. Also GOP Rep. John Hostettler, will lose his seat in Indiana's 8th District to Democrat Brad Ellsworth.

huge lines at the polls in California, according to local news -- that's something for the midterms

Ted Kennedy is proof the system is broken.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

Did my part in VA... I would just love not to have to look at that smirking, racist, tobacco-chomping, "good ol boy", georgemuthafuckinallen ever the hell again. I would not buy a used car from that guy! Okay, so Webb is no bright star, but Allen is a clown and an embarrassment to the state. (fingers crossed for majority sanity!)

Seems that you'll have to endure that smirk a while longer. He's about 30K votes ahead and there ain't much left to be counted. Also, TN seems to remain Republican. I guess Ford would have had to have taken a bleach bath to really have a shot at it.

I think I'm going to enjoy watching Hannity and Colmes tonight

Lieberman keeps his seat

By the way, what exactly does this mean? As far as I can tell Lieberman goes along with the Democrats on just about every issue except for the war in Iraq, which isn't really up for any sort of vote, so his vote is as good as a Democrats vote, right?

Even if this one lost D chair in the Senate somehow means the difference between the Dems controlling the Senate and the Reps controlling it--

Imagine- R=49, D=49, I=2 and the Vice President is the tie breaker. But what is the actual real life difference between the majority and minority leaders in the Senate? It doesn't seem to be as important as Speaker of the House or am I wrong about that?

I heard that they are projected to gain a majority in the House at this point. It's a good start. You'll be hearing a lot of quacking from the White House. That duck is going to be so lame it'll be pathetic. ;)

ETA: I stand corrected. Republicans are down 16, Democrats up 17 in the House. That'll do the trick.

If the Dems win the house/senate, which looks like it's happening, then so be it. But it will be nice for a different group of people to be blamed for all the problems in congress now. :D And we'll get to see if the Dems really do anything better/different than the majority Rep congress did. It will be interesting.

But I'm glad Charlie Crist won in Florida. :P

I'm with you on that, Stina. This election was about change, not necessarily a positive vote for the Dems as much as voter disgust with the Republicans. Regardless of whether you agree with their ideology, we all should hold them accountable to do their jobs well, no more corruptions...I hope.

IN College I had A Thesis on my political sciencss class. People say I am a Dreamer.

1) Take the Lobbyist out of Washington By eliminating the Soft money that is going to both Party Democrat and Republican

Every tax year you can volunteer $3 to the Election funds. I would not mind that amount being $10 to have a true and Fair election, As such the Electoral commitee would be the SOLE financial responsible party for the election. As a Civic DUTY all TV channel will have to allocated equal amount of time for the candidate same like when they have the town meeting.

Once an individual can get the grass root going to get the number of qualify signature to be on the Ballot, then it's up to the election folks to make sure no outside funding is spoiling the democracy!

NO SOFT MONEY

An election TOTALY FUNDED BY OUR TAX $$$$$$$$$$

Sign

A Dreamer

Gone but not Forgotten!
