Hi,

My husband and I are moving next week to Minnesota to be closer to my family. We currently live in Massachusetts. We applied for AOS/EAD in June and haven't heard anything about the AOS. (Carlos got his EAD in August.) Are there any forms we need to fill out to notify immigration of our change of address? What else do we need to do?

Thanks,

Melanie

Hi- I believe you need to send in the form AR-11, and I'd call and make sure they really do change your contact info cause I've heard/read of many people who sent in the form, but still had problems with receiving mail from USCIS.

Good luck! :)

Do you send both to the same address or are they separate?

As per the intrusctions, they say 1 is for texas service center and is another address.?!

The I-865 goes to your service center, TSC, NSC, CSC, or VSC (In your case it would be TSC). The AR-11 goes to Kentucky

U.S Department of Homeland Security

Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration

Follow the links I posted and all will be explained.

I would also send copies to the district office where you have your AOS in process, and the district office where you're moving to, with a letter requesting that your file be transfered to Minnesota.

You'll probably end up not getting an interview letter because they won't transfer it, and probably wont change your address, and then you'll be on deporation proceedings for not showing up. Its happened quite a lot when someone moves with AOS in process.

Follow up with USCIS to make sure that your address gets changed, and after you move, maybe make an Infopass appointment with the MN office to see if they can make sure your file gets transfered.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

Thanks for the responses. This makes me very nervous, especially after reading the post by Reba.

This may seem like a stupid question, but on the AR-11 Form, this is the form for Carlos who entered the country on a K-1 visa and we got married in April..., the question is "I am in the U.S. as a: visitor (no), student (no), permanent resident (not yet), other-specify." I should check "other-specify" but I'm not sure what to specify.

Also, another question is "If not a permanent resident, my stay in the U.S. expires on:" What date goes here? The expiration date from the visa? The expiration of his EA card?

We are leaving on Monday, Nov. 13 and are scheduled to close on our new house on Monday, Nov. 20. We know the new address, etc. Should we send the forms now before we get there or wait until we're at least in MN?

This whole process makes me second guess myself. Thanks for your patience and guidance.

Make sure you get a letter of confirmation by snail mail that the address has been changed on your pending application. It took three phonecalls repeating the process with the "helpline" before I got the confirmation letter.

On the form, the status is 'AOS pending,' at least that's what I wrote. I don't remember the other one, I would guess the date on the I-94. I may have wrote N/A. Maybe someone else can clear that up.
