Now he wants to take ship over here... I need serious medication at this point. I'm a really patient person but its wearing thin.

My husband wanted the same thing. But, once he takes a ship, he'll still have to take another mode of transportation once he gets to the US, so it's just much easier to get on the plane straight from Egypt.

(F)

Try telling HARDHEAD that... I'm also more comfortable knowing the airlines will be responsible for helping him get all the way to my city with anything he needs, but noooooooooooooooooooooo... menz. Blah.

send him this

link

then tell him to get on the plane :P

Hahahahaha. Bless you, Charles. :P

You know, DOS still hasn't returned my call with the result of the inquiry. Tomorrow makes it a week. Do I call 'em back? (Thinking about letting it go.)

A ship???? How long would THAT take????? OMG I'd be freakin' on him if he EVER suggested such an idea. Does he just like the adventure or is it a cost thing? I can't imagine it being less expensive to do a cruise from africa to the US.

I am a bit incensed, yes. It would take approximately one month. He says its the cost, but the truth is he's afraid to fly. He's never travelled before. I can understand his feelings. I had them too. I'm trying to be calm about this but !@#$!#$^@$!@#$!@#$!#$^!$#R!#@$. Pfft. Just get on the damn plane, man... I need you!

When the time comes, I'm sure my husband would be happy to have a chat with him about that. This trip to the US was my husband's first flight since he was little, and he managed to navigate Madrid, Chicago and Minneapolis/Saint Paul.

We had a "discussion" tonight about this boat/flying thing. It involved 2 hang-ups and loud voices, but he finally listened to me. I may take you up on your offer Rahma if Tamer doesn't mind. I could hear the fear in his voice after he dropped all the machismo and my heart goes out to him. I know how scared I was and I know its even harder for him. Pfft. Listen to me... there's not even a visa to back this up. I need to stop putting the cart before the horse. Anyway, when/if/whatever the times comes, I think it would help him.

Jess... I'm going to call DOS on my lunch break tomorrow and see what they say. I was patient all week so I think I have a right to pester now.

I also want to add a very big thank you to everyone here for your patience with me and your support. This has been a pretty difficult week between my first week of "official employment", this doo-doo, the unnecessary fighting, the overtime hours, and jockeying the kids around every evening and battling the latest virus going around (just what I needed... a cold). I had nowhere else to turn. So really, thank you so much.

Jean,

If he insists on taking a boat, we have a port here in Savannah. I could help you make arrangements for a place to stay and meet him here if there is a ship from Egypt to Savannah (I doubt you'd want our spare room for the time you finally get to be with your man).

We live about 5 minutes from the port so I could give you directions to go meet him. We're also just 20 minutes from I-95 so we're easy to find.

That would be cool but because I just became an official full time employee I have no time off for the next 120 days. That puts a cramp in the whole boat thing but I surely do appreciate your offer. That was really wonderful of you, thank you.

I think the boat is a non-issue now... at least it better be.

 You know I was thinking it would become a non-issue. Arab's like to think outloud so most times they just seem to forget their bright idea's within a few days. Jean, maybe we can arrange for Moh to be an honorary captiain on the plane  I think my fiance would be tickled pink if they told him that, he is so freakin excited to get on the plane.

I don't see it happening for awhile yet. You know, I spent both coffee breaks, my entire lunch and my entire freaking drive home, got the mail, watched the sun set and called Moh on skype all while on hold with DOS today and I never got through............................... They just dropped the call at 5:45 after being on hold 1 hour and 15 minutes.

IT WOULD BE NICE IF THEY HAD A STUPID RECORDING THAT TOLD PEOPLE THAT!!!!

This is what happens when your week has consisted of not one moment's breather, too much work, too much stress, and not getting veterans day off. My company celebrated by asking us to work another 4 hours from 5:30 to 9:30 tonight... I said NOPE.
