why do you think people on welfare stay on welfare? i'd venture it has to do with all the social service programs that have been cut or completely eliminated. the only way that people can get off of welfare is to better themselves and their situations. unfortunately, no one wants to fund such extravagances for the poor. i mean think about it, you want all poor mothers on birth control - but you don't want to keep services like planned parenthood funded? where do you think the majority of poor or low income women go for their birth control?

the common denominator of long term welfare recipients in this country is poor levels and quality of education and not unmarried young mothers. that is one subgroup. and again you completely neglect to put any sort of responsibility on the fathers of these children.

my best friend has been on food stamps for four years now. guess what? she was married when she had all four of her children. dude skipped the state - he owes well over 25,000 in child support right now, but virginia won't touch him until he comes back into the state. how can you find fault in a mother doing what it takes to feed her children? what do you suggest my welfare queen friend should do?

what I said was that if you are currently on means tested benefits birth control should be mandatory. Obviously that would not apply to your friend who had the kids before her husband fled town would it.

Sorry but when i see time after time, people using benefit cards that have Iphones, Designer clothes, buying lotto tickets, driving nice cars we have a problem

you're making no sense. she is on a means tested benefit. do you think she can't get pregnant because she's no longer married?

the old private detective routine again, huh. look, welfare breeds government dependency - this is very true. but without services and programs to teach people how to get jobs, manage money, deal with emotional/mental issues, and financial assistance during the interim of pulling yourself up by your bootstraps - you never going to have anything but a class of people who are incapable of providing for themselves or bettering their lives/children's futures.

no matter how much you want to, you can't sweep poor people under the rug and forget they exist. they will come back to haunt society, in some form or another.

I am saying she should not produce another offspring, until such time as she has the means to support it. I think you understand that.

As for her being married or not, once again as long as you don't ask me to fund it, you can make whatever decisions you wish. Peoples morals are nobody's business but theirs until they start impacting me.

i do understand that is what you're saying right now. but that wasn't your initial argument, was it?

you're leaving out the part where you want the government to put her on birth control as long as she collects food stamps. do you remember saying that? maybe reread your initial post.

you were saying that the op had no reasonable basis to assert that her uterus is more regulated that her guns. then you went on to detail how to further regulate women's reproductive health.

i won't go back and forth about this anymore because it's obvious you can't fess up to your blatant contradiction when you're busy chasing your tail in circles.

I can't stand when people think they can tell others how to spend their money. I admit, there are some people who are on welfare who shouldn't be, or who are abusing the system, but this is NOT the majority. I hope you never have to go on welfare. It isn't all the fun and games you seem to think it is.

Really? I'd like to know in which states where someone is on Welfare can afford to buy all of these things?

Here was my initial argument

"As for Welfare quuens, in my world if you have a child and get any means tested benefit, Birth Control is mandatory."

IF YOU HAVE A CHILD---That means you already have a child. That means if your husband walks out on you and you have 4 kids, we will help. It just means you are not going to have anymore until you are off benefits.
