I'd like to know what a "welfare queen" means exactly. Are men on welfare, "welfare kings"? Are we regulating their reproductive habits also?

I'm going to tell my mother that she was a "welfare queen" when I was little. She'll LOVE that!

I wish some people would think before they post.

Ok to be fair and balanced we have welfare kings also..

But then this place would be dead.

Now that's funny even if you are talking about me :)

you want mothers on welfare put on birth control.

in order to collect welfare there are 'income level type conditions'.

but you don't want income restrictions, now you want drug testing to manipulate birth control?

i completely agree that birth control, schooling, community service projects are all programs that should be provided to people living in poverty. however, you expect these poor people to also pay for these programs because you don't want to? some of us understand personal responsibility includes the individual's responsibility to help the less fortunate for the greater good.

this all boils down to the ignorant belief that people are poor because they choose to be poor and people with money can regulate poor people into becoming people with money.

46.5 of all recipents have been on welfare 2 years or more. In forty states welfare pays more than an 8 dollar per hour job. In 9 states it pays more than teaching in our schools. In 7 states it pays more than 12 dollars per hour

I am sorry but there is a huge problem of out of wedlock births to women who at a very young age go on the system. That is part of the huge problem we have in this country.

why do you think people on welfare stay on welfare? i'd venture it has to do with all the social service programs that have been cut or completely eliminated. the only way that people can get off of welfare is to better themselves and their situations. unfortunately, no one wants to fund such extravagances for the poor. i mean think about it, you want all poor mothers on birth control - but you don't want to keep services like planned parenthood funded? where do you think the majority of poor or low income women go for their birth control?

the common denominator of long term welfare recipients in this country is poor levels and quality of education and not unmarried young mothers. that is one subgroup. and again you completely neglect to put any sort of responsibility on the fathers of these children.

my best friend has been on food stamps for four years now. guess what? she was married when she had all four of her children. dude skipped the state - he owes well over 25,000 in child support right now, but virginia won't touch him until he comes back into the state. how can you find fault in a mother doing what it takes to feed her children? what do you suggest my welfare queen friend should do?

that is what god deemed you worthy of... mold. eat it and thank the lord for the bounty he hath bestowed upon you.

we're not eating it. we're saving it. if the kids loose their medicaid she'll have penicillin. that's how that works right? i is not so learned.

medicaid? stop depending on handouts you moochers. if your kid needs a root canal i'm sure you can look up "How to do a root canal" on YouTube and do it at home with kitchen equipment.

i ain't no welfare queen. when my baby's daddy turned out to be a dud - i got myself a good job with health insurance (now if i had four kids instead of one - that health insurance might not have been so easy to afford)

although we aren't offered dental - so thanks for the tip.

you're a lib, so i'm sure you are.

but we can all pretend to be whatever we wish we were online, so at least you want something better for yourself. that's a start. maybe one day you'll get there and that day you will vote republican.

prayer cards are never revoked. you may leave god but god will never leave you. he loves you. he always will.

that's why he gave us mold! i get it now. it's a really deep sentiment involving 'reaping what you sew' and being 'unequally yoked'. i must turn back!
