How come the DOS knows absolutely nothing? The London Embassy requested the passport on January 8th. Waiting for the visa...still... and when I call the DOS, they say, um yeah, we received some relationship evidence on January 6th (no you didn't, you received THAT on December 14th, you received his PASSPORT on January 9th). I'm not sure why I even bothered to call.

Just needed to vent that out a little. We've only been waiting for about a year now. blink.gif

I'm venting because I feel like venting and yes, I have a right too, also this will be the last time I reply since a conversation with you is useless and I'm not sure why you bothered to reply. Also, I'm not waiting for an interview and therefore need not to write anyone regarding anything. I just would like the DOS to have CORRECT, UPDATED information since London charges $20 to call them directly. Clearer communication in this process would be a beautiful, but apparently unattainable idea.

Have a great life and journey, if you are on one and not just some bored unemployed troll. I shan't visit this post again.

I'm sorry Noah Lot, but what gives you the right to tell people what they can and cannot post on here??? As everyone on this site knows, this is a long and stressful process, which at times can be very frustrating. If Mary wants to vent about her particularly frustrating situation, then she should be allowed to do so without being shot down.

For the most part I love the sense of community on here, the feeling that we're all in this together. But people like you do nothing but add to the frustrations of those who are already at the end of their tethers. Kindly keep your unhelpful views to yourself.

Sorry for venting!

Thanks Patsgal! There will always be trolls who have no life that troll the board with useless comments, thanks for rising above and being understanding. Those of us who have a sense of community are the only ones whose opinions I value. The best part of VJ is that I can block useless trolls with the click of the button. Easy as pie!

Have a great week! Here's hoping the visa comes before the end of it. star_smile.gif

MaryNYC - You're welcome. I couldn't believe that no one else had commented on it. It took me just short of 11 months from sending my I-129F to entering the US and at times I felt like I would never get there. I completely understand your frustrations. I've got my fingers crossed for you! :)

Noah Lot - I don't think Mary ever said that she should "leap to the front of the line." She was just venting her frustrations, which I'm sure every one of us has done at one time or another, if not on here, then to a friend of family member. You don't have to know everything about an organization to claim that dealing with them is frustrating.

Wow, this has been one of the strangest threads I've ever seen.

I've always been of the opinion that this site serves more than one purpose. First, and most importantly, people get information on immigration. But this site also provides something else very important to some of us. We get support from other people; probably the only people we know who truly understand how difficult this process is.

This is definitely the place where people should be allowed to vent and release the frustration that always seems to be present during this ordeal.

Good luck on your journey Mary.

It's a difficult journey you're on, but in the end, it will be worth it. Hang in there; and don't let others get you down.

I get annoyed with DOS too......I think most of the time they read off a response sheet and know very little about your actual case. My husband was told they was waiting for the DS-230 which we already knew they had recieved as the guy from the DOS had told us that they day before!!!!

It is a frustrating process, vent away.....Noah,not everyone can deal with this like a robot,if the poster has had a bad experience with the DOS than they can say so.......I imagine you're the minority here in thinking we should just be greatful for the shoddy, expensive, intrusive visa process we have available to us.

We all have the same goal here, lets try and be supportive.

I'm of the opinion that the DATES DOS tells you -

are the dates that things are added to the casefile and LOGGED as added to the casefile.

DoS Hotline and the IV Unit share data - The IV unit would only have an update, viewable by DoS, for the work the IV Unit did.

Other dates, like 'when it hit the door' or 'when the packet was opened' - eh - IV unit doesn't care about those (IMO), so it's not something DoS would track.

Hang in there !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Perhaps the embassy didn;t enter the info you sent back in December until Jan 6th and that is why the DoS sees it as that date, who knows?. I think your frustrations should lie with the embassy, not DoS, it is the embassy's job to update your case on their end seeing that it's still in their hands. In any event, the waiting and not knowing can be frustrating and overwhelming, I am sure everyone can relate on some level. Hopefully you will receive words soon that the visa has been issued. Good luck!

All those who are waiting/frustrated, etc...

the folks behind the lines are not going out of their way to cause delay in 99% of the cases...there are just too many cases (collectively) and not enough people to get through them at a pace that would make more people happy. The process for immigrant and K1 visas are methodical...and generally none too quick. for a variety of reasons.. more and more embassies are trying to have some sort of electronic feedback (semi-automated) to be able to provide some sort of interim responses...and yes, those likely sound mechanical..but ..in many places, like London, which likely processes beaucoup IVs every year, there are not enough personnel resources to give each case TLC from start to finish...and some cases become complicated for a wide variety of reasons...not the least of which is incomplete requested documentation of the petitioner & beneficiary...so hang in there...take a deep breath, but try not to take the DoS to task...

I have more dignity and class than to get involved with your need for a fight.

Good luck with your journey.

My response exactly. Some people are so set in their views, and so unwilling to listen to the opinions of others, that it is a waste of time trying to reason with them.

Okay, you want a "coherent response"? Here it is. I speak only for myself here.

I am not saying this process should be cheaper, I am aware of the huge cost of processing our applications. I am not even saying it should be faster. Of course, we would all love it if it was, but we all know how understaffed USCIS/DOS/embassies are.

All I would say - and I believe the point the OP was making - is that it would be nice if, when you spend $$$ on a phone call to them, that they could give you an accurate update on your case.

I absolutely agree with you! Some people have way too much time and they are not worth it. Hang in there, Mary! You'll get there! I'm tired of waiting and not being able to get decent information about the status of my case, it's frustrating! But there is light at the end of the tunnel, stay strong and don't listen to those that have nothing good to say. :star:

DOS does tend to be a lil behind whatever is happening in my experience, I'm sure you didn't mean they actually know nothing.

I know you just want to read "approved" somewhere.

They have requested his passport, what other reason would there be?

Having said that you just need a lil more patience, they have only had his passport 4 working days. Even he had his interview on the 9th, he may not have had it back yet anyway.

Hang in there, it's coming
