Why are the mass murderers who occasionally shoot up some suburban school or mall so much worse than the gangbangers who shoot up the inner city every day? High capacity mags are wreaking havoc in Oakland as we speak.

Just the other day a high capacity mag gunned down some folks in Compton. I understand they melted it down for scrap as punishment.

Because they do it in "gun free" zones!!!!!!!!!!! It's against the law!!!!!!!!! Silly question

The limit to 7 is happening in New York State. And it is going to happen. They have the votes.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/01/15/new-york-assault-weapons-guns/1835785/

Was it ever in doubt?

I said "Congress"

New York does not have a "Congress"

I agree it is a problem but not really for Obama, or any other POTUS that will follow. They have bodyguards and a full time protection detail. The problem has always been, remains and will be, in the future, for the likes of the families of those killed at the movie theater, the elementary school in Newtown and others who will lose a family member or friend in the next mass murder's bullet extravaganza.

:crying:

But you are against police in schools.

Spare me the BULLSH*T.

We will play the "who said this" game - hint none of these words were written in the last 200 years.

Americans have the right and advantage of being armed – unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms.

The Constitution shall never be construed … to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms

The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed.

To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

The constitutions of most of our States assert that all power is inherent in the people; that... it is their right and duty to be at all times armed

Who said these?

“This is a matter of vital importance to the public safety ... While we recognize that assault-weapon legislation will not stop all assault-weapon crime, statistics prove that we can dry up the supply of these guns, making them less accessible to criminals.”

“I do not believe in taking away the right of the citizen for sporting, for hunting and so forth, or for home defense. But I do believe that an AK-47, a machine gun, is not a sporting weapon or needed for defense of a home.”

“Certain forms of ammunition have no legitimate sporting, recreational, or self-defense use and thus should be prohibited.”

“With the right to bear arms comes a great responsibility to use caution and common sense on handgun purchases.”

“Every year, an average of 9,200 Americans are murdered by handguns, according to Department of Justice statistics. This does not include suicides or the tens of thousands of robberies, rapes and assaults committed with handguns. This level of violence must be stopped.”

“I think maybe there could be some restrictions that there had to be a certain amount of training taken.”

“Well, I think there has to be some [gun] control.”

Give you a clue, it was the same person and he was the President of the USA. I think this guy wouldn't even be recognized as a Republican today, probably be accused of being a Liberal or a RINO. What he said back then is pretty much the same thing that is being said today on common sense proposals and measures to reduce gun crime.

A confused man who actually signed into law the weakening of the 1968 GC law? Of course I can get away with calling him confused as I'm not a republican nor do I consider him a god.

One common sense proposal would be to remove and keep the criminals who commit the crimes off the streets? Even money sez your president won't touch on that one when he announces his doomed policies today.

If we're just gonna throw some random old quotes out there:

The old NRA also promoted gun control. In the 1920s, NRA leaders helped draft the Uniform Firearms Act -- model legislation for states to adopt that established new, restrictive rules on carrying firearms in public.

Karl Frederick, the NRA's president, said at the time, "I have never believed in the general practice of carrying weapons... I think it should be sharply restricted and only under licenses." The Uniform Firearms Act only awarded licenses to "suitable" persons with a "proper reason" for carrying and created a waiting period before a newly purchased handgun could be delivered to the purchaser.

It seems the NRA used to be far less extreme than they are today, and actually promoted gun control.

That was the NRA I remember being a member of, low profile, and exclusive.

It's a shame to see what they've turned into.
