ARG! Anyone else just get screwed over by their first paycheck of the year?

I am now officially making $52 less each month. AWESOME.

Not.

Yes, it sucks... but we knew this day was coming and that the SS deduction holiday was going to expire. In addition, chances are your health/life insurance premiums went up with the new year, which increases deductions even more...

No one has informed me of higher premiums for my health insurance yet.

But our year doesn't end until march so I think maybe then.

If you go through the elective process every year you will most likely see an increase when the time comes to renew your policies...

Everyone's paycheck took a 2% hit. Everyone knew that the tax holiday will expire eventually.

On another note, god, I wish it were only $52 each month heh...

If you lost more per month, then you make more per month.

I would kill to make more, please? yes?

I get a 6k pay raise after this immigration ####### is sorted out.

My boss says I make less because I travel to see my hubby and work from home.

I'm okay with that part.

1. Make more = spend more (usually). In my case if I didn't get paid more I wouldn't have been able to marry my wife and support all this immigration process #######.

2. That sounds like bullshit excuse to pay less.

I didn't see either party arguing to keep the 2% FICA holiday. They were both too busy fighting over taxing the rich more or not. I'm getting hit by significantly more than $52 each month. But then at some point we had to start putting that money back in the SS retirement fund, or it would go broke sooner. I'm just not sure the economy was ready for it yet, or at least not the entire 2% in one shot.

No, not a bad excuse at all.

I started making 18k. I make 35k now.

It's a very reasonable salary.

I understand working with me remote is frustrating.

I consider myself very lucky to be able to work from home most of the time and I will gladly take the salary that comes with it.

However, I wanted to buy a new vita card this paycheck and now that I'm getting $54 less per month, that's kinda out the window >=[

Reasonable depends on way too many things, but if this works for you - that's good. It comes down to individual needs.

I've worked "remotely" for 18 months and no one ever tried to pay me a cent less compared to what I would've been making had I worked on site.

I think this really depends on what the job description is, whether it's billed hourly or not, etc.

Not hourly. All Salary.

I definitely should be making more, as I'm a manager of a dept.

But I agree, that I obviously lack ability to manage some things from a different country lol.

So, I think the raise is well deserved once I'm back in the office, but I completely understand what you mean.

I even get an office when I'm in the states! No more cubicle jumping!

Every time I'm down there, I'm in a new cubicle that used to belong to someone that quit or got fired... SIGH.
