Times have changed. Guns have changed. Society has changed. It only makes sense for rules to change with them. Anyone who tries to apply something written in the 1700s to what's happening in 2013 has issues. That's completely illogical.

if you think the 2nd Amendment needs to be revised, ask your congressman to propose a change to it.

in the meantime, as long as it stands, SCOTUS is clear on what it means.

now, i gotta go back to building evil black rifles that shoot "wild spinning bullets of death"...

Actually what it should have read is... We will put a means to change the constitution in place because we can see into the future. We are going to make sure it requires some effort so that the peoples will is done. If we concentrate too much power in on enity, we run the risk of a return to the Monarchy style govt we just escaped from.

If we want to define what gun rights are more closely then fine. Let's have an amendment. If the vast majority are for it as you libs keep pointing out it should pass easily.

I don't think it needs to be revised. I support the right to keep and bear arms. I just support regulating it.

Sure total background checks.. All for it... Telling people they can only have 7 bullets or a gun is banned because of the way it looks, without 1 shred of data to prove why, is a first step in a slope we can not go down.

SCOTUS has already rules on what may be regulated. the NY ban components are not on the list of acceptable regulations. they will come down in a year or so.

We have checks and balances in this country. The Constitution is not written in stone. If enough of the American public believes change is necessary, we can change it by proposing and ratifying an Amendment.

I believe we should amend the 14th Amendment and eliminate birthright citizenship. I believe a child should only be a natural-born US citizen if at least 1 parent was a US citizen or Green Card holder at the time of birth, even if this birth happens on US soil. People may agree with me, others don't. So if we have a supermajority on this, we can take action.

Same with the 2nd. Amendment. If enough Americans feel that it is time to amend it, propose an Amendment, and then ratify it.

I have no problems with sensible gun laws, but I have a problem with a President who uses executive privilege to help illegals, and uses executive privilege to narrow down the 2nd. Amendment of the Constitution. I feel this is an abuse of power, and I voted for Obama. Still, I don't give him a fee pass on this.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

NEW YORK (WABC) -- A troubling oversight has been found within New York State's sweeping new gun laws.

The ban on having high-capacity magazines, as it's written, would also include law enforcement officers.

Magazines with more than seven rounds will be illegal under the new law when that part takes effect in March.

As the statute is currently written, it does not exempt law enforcement officers.

Nearly every law enforcement agency in the state carries hand guns that have a 15 round capacity.

"The PBA is actively working to enact changes to this law that will provide the appropriate exemptions from the law for active and retired law enforcement officers."

How about just limiting that to on duty law enforcement officers? Off duty and retired take their chances like everybody else. I have seen what happens when off-duty and "retired" officers start to drinking, and it ain't pretty. And seven rounds is more that enough even when on duty. Officers used to get along just fine with five or six round capacity double action revolvers.

Most handguns are not made with 7 round mags so no more sales in ny state. This is why they changed the law from 10 round mags to 7....Can you buy a glock or 1911 with a 7 round or less mag?

The liberal elite ... know that the people simply cannot be trusted; that they are incapable of just and fair self-government; that left to their own devices, their society will be racist, sexist, homophobic, and inequitable -- and the liberal elite know how to fix things.
