Well, I live in South Georgia... so I am not exactly sure where pancake Tuesday comes from...

But, we occasionally have breakfast for supper... especially during the winter months. It is quick, easy, filling... and it warms you up.

The sound of lemon & sugar on pancakes does sound good though... might have to give that a try... my son absolutely loves pancakes... especially chocolate chip pancakes... i like pancakes too... but I am more of a grits kinda gal... haha

Tho' lovers be lost, love shall not... and death shall have NO dominion!

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

It's more commonly known as "Fat Tuesday" over here. You use up all your food before lent, the time of fasting. The pancakes in the UK are not like US pancakes at all. They're very thin like French crepes and the old fashioned way is to have them with lemon juice and sugar. I can't stand the thick US one meself....way too much stodge

Where I'm from in Detroit we always had paczki day -- it's a big polish jelly-filled pastry -- yum! Sadly not many polish emigres in LA, so no paczki could I find.

Awww, I had a paczki for brekkie yesterday...

Yeh we did. Nice and thin with just lemon and sugar. We had too many though. I think I can still feel them in the pit of my stomach :dead:

That sounds exactly like us today

nope we didnt have them last night.I didnt get home from work till 8:30 so we didnt have the energy. So we are going to have pancake wednesday.

Only one problem--technically, Shrove (aka "Fat", unofficially aka "gluttony") Tuesday is supposed to be the LAST day when you can gluttonise before the 40 days of Lent (when you're supposed to cutback).

Frances, Lent is never celebrated, only observed--as cutting back is never joyous.

Ahhh, but aren't you, by observing the Lenten customs, actually celebrating the end result, the joy of Easter? And isn't it indeed suppose to be about more than just giving something up? ;)
