It's actual name is Shrove Tuesday, but everyone calls it Pancake Tuesday. When Rob lived in Ireland he was completely baffled by this

In our family, we have them for dinner/supper and we make them almost like crepes. The batter is just basically milk, flour and eggs...that's it. And for toppings we spread butter on them, sprinkle sugar and squeeze some lemon juice...Delish!!!

We loved them, and never had them any other time of the year. Mam would keep making them until she'd made enough to go around us all, and some more!!...enough for a few pancakes each for all 8 of us and herself and Dad.

We had home made pancakes here last night...did you? :)

Oh definitely! A bunch of churches and community centres at home host pancake suppers for everyone. It's kind of a big deal there, I don't think it's much of a deal here in Oklahoma.

The Russian girls I know never needed an excuse to eat pancakes on any night. Not connected to any holidays or festivals, they just make them and eat them. They have a special treat called bliny that sounds just like what you're talking about. And of course, with a name like Slim, you know I don't pass up too many of those.

Pancake Tuesdays sounds like a good tradition to start though. Not just a Mardi Gras thing... but every Tuesday!
