She should be able to make the purchase for you but is likely to need info from you like passport number etc....

She can go online to AirFrance for example and choose Algeria as the country http://www.airfrance.com/dz

I am sure most of the major airlines will allow this. You most likely will not need a transit vist for the major european airports unless you have to go through immigration say to change airports.

Good luck and happy travels! (F)

You should both check for prices before deciding how to purchase your ticket. My travel agent told me it is better for my fiance to buy his own ticket, as there are more taxes for tickets bought here as opposed to if you bought your ticket. Also sometimes there are restrictions on tickets purchased in a location other than the country the person is departing from. I do not believe you can stop over anywhere. But if you find out otherwise please let us know. My sister in law tried to go to Spain with us while we were visiting in Morocco. She had a visa to go to Europe but it turned out to be a 1 time entry visa, as is the visa you obtain to come to the USA. Good luck to you.

Hello, I am very new here and this is my first posting. My husband is from Algeria too and we have been waiting and waiting and waiting. Anyways, as far as I know, FRANKFURT, AMSTERDAM, AND ROME are the only 3 cities in europe where a TRANSIT VISA is not required for Algerians.

I plan on helping my husband too with his airline ticket when the time comes. LUFTHANSA has a good flight connection -it leaves Algiers sometime around 2am I believe and arrives into Frankfurt about 0600am In the morning. This allows connections into NORTH AMERICA very well as most flights to either the USA or CANADA (IN OUR CASE) normally leave after 1pm from the various cities in europe.

When the time comes, most likely I shall be courriering out a package for my husband with his airline ticket inside it rather than send it by mail. The EUROPE to NORTH AMERICA portion, now adays, will be an electronic ticket; but the ALGIERS to FRANKFURT is still the old style paper ticket so it has to reach my husband some way.

I hope what I wrote makes sense, si non, je peut re-ecrire tout ca ici en francais, encore ou dans une email si ca ca vous aiderez? Thank you and merci

If you are in Alger you should go to both Air France and Lufthansa and ask. For Air France you would need to be able to fly through CDG (so as not to have to change airports) and as far as I know there is only one Alger-CDG flight a day and it arrives in the afternoon which may make connecting flights difficult. Lufthansa is easier as it requires no airport change and thus no transit visa. Both offices take credit cards so maybe they would let your fiancee call in and pay with hers. Otherwise, she could Western Union you the money.

Compare prices by going in to talk to both offices and then checking what www.kayak.com finds. If it is cheaper to buy it in Algeria try first to pay with a credit card and if not then use Western Union. The fee is high, but it may be less than the price difference and it is very reliable.

Safe travels!

My husband arrived last Thursday from Algeria. We found that it was wayyyyy cheaper for him to purchase the ticket in Algeria (he bought it from a travel agency). The ticket was about $1000 US. He flew on Lufthansa and left Algiers at about 4:00am and landed in Frankfurt at 6:00am. Then his connecting flight was at 10:20am and he landed in Boston at 12:15pm. Only a four hour lay over.. not bad at all. Most of that time, I think he spent eating pizza...

My husband is from Morocco so I'm not sure if this will help but he had to purchase his ticket IN Morocco. I sent him the money by WesternUnion and then he bought the ticket in Morocco.

Transit visa not required for CDG or FRA as long as you stay in the internationa hall and you show an onward destination ticket. UK will require a transit visa

I have always found this site helpful
