Because we all know that the gun laws are the reason there are so much violent crime. Has nothing to do with poverty, drugs, no jobs, and less education.

No, gun restriction causes violent crime rates to go up in the mind of this gun nut. The stats he presents in support of this theory contradict it more than they support it but he's sticking with it anyway. No wonder that Texas has numbnuts like Rick Perry and George W Bush as governors and retards like Louie Gohmert in Congress. And I meant absolutely no offense to retards.

I know. I don't like to get hung up over labels. It's just funny when people say that the "assault weapons ban" didn't work. The truth is that we never had one in the first place. So naturally, it didn't work because it never went into effect.

Yes.

Why are anti gun people so hung up on assault style weapons when hand guns are the problem in over 75% of gun crimes. The reason we will not have an assault weapons ban is because it is insane do nothing feel good malarkey for people that can't understand basic math.

You're either going to get a hypocritical response or, more likely, handguns should be banned as well - all semi-autos should be banned etc.

For the millionth time: I am not hung up over assault weapons bans. I think assault weapons and high capacity mags are of no positive use in civilian hands but I don't think banning them is a priority. I've said it so many times and it still hasn't sunk in? Do I need to type it in bigger font?

No. Access control is the ticket. For any gun. All guns. All venues. No matter who the buyer or seller. No matter if it's a sale or other kind of transfer. You want to acquire a firearm? You gotta pass a universal, comprehensive background check. You sell or otherwise transfer a firearm to another person w/o that background check? You're bound for the slammer and you will lose your eligibility to own a firearm for life. Period.

Well I was speaking generally, not about your opinion as it seems you've come to my conclusion. I had actually pictured Piers Morgan when I mentioned the hypocritical notion of Assault Weapons vs handguns.

Yes.

If every assault weapon in America was gone tomorrow and it resulted in a direct drop proportional to the amount of gun crimes committed with assault weapons.

The gun crime rate would drop a 1% of less. So tell me again how vital it is to get them off the street. The abject stupidity of that is like banning Porsche's because Honda's cause a lot of wrecks.

Alright, once again for the cheap seats in the back: I DON'T THINK ASSAULT WEAPONS BANS ARE A PRIORITY. I AM JUST POINTING OUT THAT THOSE THAT CLAIM THE ASSAULT WEAPONS BAN WE HAD WAS A FAILURE OVERLOOK THE LITTLE FACT THAT WE NEVER ACTUALLY HAD AN ASSAULT WEAPONS BAN. You can't measure the success or failure of a policy that has never been implemented. That's all.

Wow i got an I don't think banning assault weapons is a priority reply. Uhhh yeah right.. . A few posts ago he said we still suffer gun insanity because we never had a real assault weapons ban. Amazing in a clinical kind of way.
