I have applied for my OPT and I am currently waiting on it to come in. However, I read on the USCIS website that I will receive a letter for an appointment to get my fingerprints and photo taken, is this correct? If so I had no idea about this. Also I checked the status of it and it is STILL in the initial status, I received my receipt om the 5th of November so its been well over 2 months. I have a job lined up and I am supposed to start on the 23rd of January. Also would I be better receiving the notice by e-mail, would it be quicker?

Thank you!

Lately it seems it is taking lot longer for OPT to come thru.

You can check with your advisor at school, I am sure they are the one who filed for it so they should know what is going on and how long did it take for other students to get their OPT.

My adviser was off sick so I had to apply for it on my own. She gave me the paperwork and then got sick so I had to fill it out on my own. It should be here around the 7th of February as that will be 3 months from when I received my receipt.

I just called USCIS and they said they will be sending out an appointment for bio metrics. Anyone know what this is? I know its fingerprints and photos but is that it? Also how long will it take after the bio metrics?

Thanks
