with the initial filing of the petition I don't think that is necessary. At the Embassy level, the relationship will need to be shown it is genuine.

brnidokiegurl,

A difference in age between the two people is not an issue in and of itself. Combine an age difference with some other relevant facts and there can be an issue. You provide information about only the one fact, doesn't mean anything. Please provide some context.

In any event, I agree with roymcn3rd that this is a consulate issue.

We see no other issues for ourselves, we have everything required. Just some have talked alot lately on the age thing. Language is not issue he speaks English very well, even with religion differences we both learn from each other and have had many discussions, both just normal (whatever that maybe) educated people that decided we want to be together. I just find it kinda hard for someone to read few forms and see the true relationship, everything we have is just the same as everyone else only issue they could find would be the age and actually i dont see that of concern to anyone but us

Post your question in the ME/NA subforum, where many of the Moroccan regulars hang out. I think they've discussed this lately.

When dealing with Morocco, you have to deal with the fact that certain interviewers have refused to take evidence during interviews, so it may need to be addressed in the original petition.

10/14/05 - married AbuS in the US lovehusband.gif

02/23/08 - Filed for removal of conditions.

Sometime in 2008 - Received 10 year GC. Almost done with USCIS for life inshaAllah! Huzzah!

12/07/08 - Adopted the fuzzy feline love of my life, my Squeaky baby th_catcrazy.gif

02/23/09 - Apply for citizenship

06/15/09 - Citizenship interview

07/15/09 - Citizenship ceremony. Alhamdulilah, the US now has another american muslim!

I can't advise you what you should do, it is more of a consular issue, and you may want to consider posting on the regional forum for advice specific to your consulate.

That said, I can tell you what I did with my petition. As we went through an Asian post considered by many to be "high fraud", and I was concerned about the age issue (I, the USC, am 7.5 years older than my husband), I asked around much as you are doing now. I received good advice from knowledgable people here. This stood out: your petition may be the first thing the Consulate sees, and therefore a bit of evidence of your relationship, as well as perhaps some explanation of a potential red flag MAY be appropriate. In our case, marrying an older woman is contrary to the prevailing culture in my (then) fiance's country, but NOT contrary to my fiance's minority culture. So I wrote about that in a one page addendum to my petition. It was basically like a little one-page anthropology essay. I like to think it helped the CO understand our situation a little better. My husband wasn't even asked about the age issue at his interview. I don't know if we would've had a problem if I hadn't done that.

Best wishes, and you may get more help if you post more detailed info about your situation and/or post on the consulate and/or regional forums...

Maya

Many thanks to the Visajourney community for all the help!

I don't think its something you need to address in the original petition. The purpose of the petition is to get your foot in the door. Addressing red flags is something to focus on when you get to the consular level, since at that point, things are done on a case-by-case basis. And, as Rahma mentioned, please do come join us in the ME/NA regional forum. We'd love to have you, and there are several of us from Morocco there. :)

brnidokiegurl,

Who is older? What are the social or religious norms of Morocco, or of your fiance's peer group?

The comments that you read, like the information that you have presented, are superficial. Probe a little and you will generally find that the issue is not a simple age difference, the issue is a woman significantly older than a man in a culture where such relationship is extremely rare or not accepted. Leading to the question of why the visa applicant is breaking with the strong traditions in which they were raised.

In many countries the answer often is because it's a relatively easy way, if not the only way, to get into the USA and gain LPR status. And that is the problem.

It's just a number the way I look at it.

Do you have lots in common, do you enjoy the same things, do you have the same expectations and values, do you have similiar educations (relatively), do you work in similiar industries, do you have similiar life experiences?

If you're asking if you should mention something about your age difference in relevence to your relationship, the initial petition is not the place to address that. In fact, you won't want to address that issue unless it is requested; which would be at the embassy/consulate level, if anywhere. However, as I learned in boy scouts, be prepared in case the question should arise at the interview.

Sorry but maybe I'm reading this post wrong. You the USC are Female and 7 1/2 years older? Cut of your post: (I, the USC, am 7.5 years older than my husband) How would 7.5 be considered a considerable age difference wheather male or Female? I just don't get it. OH! unless the Female USC is 21 years old.
