Wow its only been 2 months.... we were 7 months to get approval and then 8 months to get the greencard....

Ok I feel like I need to clarify. I'm not really concerned with how long it might take to get the green card. I just want a work permit. My husband has to support the two of us on his paycheck and we can't even afford our own place because of it. So, that's why I'm upset about the lack of progress. I just want the EAD to be approved. That's all.

Hi again!

No, I have been here since 2003 on a H1-B (work) visa. It runs out on December 29, so if I don't get my EAD and/or AP by then, I'll have to resign my job and be unable to leave the US.

And on top of that, my driver's licence expires with the visa on the 29th, so I'll be grounded and will become, as my husband says, an "inside wife!"

I certainly wish I came on a K visa becasue it seems as if those folk all get transferred to CSC and approved without interview in a flash! I had hoped that having (presumably) been through background and security checks for the H visa, things would go a little faster for me, but seems not. Oh well, what to do but wait (im)patiently?

what about you? what's your situ? hopefully we can support each other through this...

Roosterwife,

I guess I'm an 'inside wife' lol I don't have a license or a job. I came in as a visitor, fell in love, then got married. But, I've known my husband for nearly 7 years so we were friends before I got here. It just blossomed into love during my stay. I was only supposed to stay for a couple of months.. now it will hopefully be forever.

I wish there were a set timetable. It's like it is with most any petition...there is a wait. I know it's frustrating. At least we're all able to wait it out with our beloved spouse! I guess I'm not impatient though, as long as my beloved Joel is with me it doesn't matter. I am glad we were transferred to CSC though. I figure it will be approved when it's approved...no use in fretting over when.

I'm happy to wait with my husband as well, but it's hard for him to be the only one working. Not having a second income is really taking it's toll on us. I just want to be able to work so I can contribute income and we can finally get our own place. But sure, I definitely prefer being here doing nothing rather than being back in Canada missing him.

P.S. KarenCee, you got married on my bday :) That's awesome!

I know what you mean about wanting to work...Joel felt the same way and people down here just don't understand this "waiting for the gov't" thing. Then again, not many people understand this whole process.

July 7 seems to be a great day all around, eh?

It can be frustrating waiting, but the thing that may help is that it is out of your hands at this point. That works for me, I am just happy to have my applications out. We were married a full year plus a few months before we got around to filing, so I'm kinda used to waiting.

Congrats, Jenny! That is excellent news and certainly gives me hope that my interview notice will be in the mail very soon. Now you can look towards a finite date and not be floating in limbo. Congrats again, Jenny. You really have something to be thankful for on Thursday!

My wife came in on K-1 (my fiancee then) and it took just about 3 months for the EAD, and now it is close to 5 months waiting for info about our interview or transfer to CSC, but nothing yet. So not all K visa people are so lucky.
