Received a confusing E-Mail from USCIS today.

yes that number will always be with you, however the message that you got on the USCIS page has to do with your petition for your wife, they have assigned her an alien number and that's why it says that it's been changed, as mentioned before mine said the same thing, on the approval notice my husband's alien number was the same as we had filled on the I-130 but now they had given me a number! I think it's a good thing and that you will be approved soon since you've also been waiting for a long time.

Yes, an I130 petition for my wife.

I am beginning to understand, from input and replies from other VJ members, that the Alien Registration Number I had prior to becoming a naturalized citizen will stay with me for life and I'll need to reference it on future correspondence.

I'm just glad I received my first communication from USCIS since receiving my NOA1 on July 26th, 2012. I now feel like a human has placed their hands on my file and it is being processed in some manner.

yes i do think your case is in the completing stage i once received an email just like that from NVC and my interview appointment shortly after

You were supposed to provide that A#, which is on your certificate of naturalization. Perhaps someone looked it up for you, which is pretty nice since you could've gotten an RFE for that.

I inquired with USCIS about that when I was filling out the I130 paperwork, they directed me to only include my Naturalization Certificate number.

Your response prompted me to dig up a photocopy of my surrendered Permanent Resident Alien Card, the "A" number on the card matched the "A" number I used when filling out my Naturalization paperwork, but it does not match the "A" number on the USCIS correspondence to me, and neither match the "A" number on my Naturalization Certificate.

I could have bigger problems on my hands than not putting it on my I130 paperwork.

Let us know what the USCIS Customer Service line tells you. Don't settle for the word of the first person you talk to. Request to be escalated to a tier 2 rep who can see more information about your case.

I received yet another notification from USCIS the following day, see below, which prompted me to call and discuss the notifications with them, I was forwarded to a tier 2 rep, she told me they were experiencing issues with their notification system and to disregard this notification and the previous one.

She informed me she was the rep handling my case, no additional information is required, and that everything was on track for completion within the normal six (6) month processing time for an I130 at CSC.

It doesn't have anything to do with the petitioner. I'm a Natural-Born USC and therefore never had a A# and I got the same notification. It must have to do with the alien spouse. Hopefully it's good news!!
