<my fiancee just recieved her packet from the consulate and one of the requirements is a physical. The packet states that it´s good for a year but they also say that you should do it within 2 weeks of your consulate interview. My finacee lives more than 2 hours from where she will have to get her doctors appointment and do the interview and right now she is in the city where she needs to do them and I am trying to think of a reason why she can´t do it now. The only thing I can think of is that the consulate might think her health has changed, but they don´t state that as a reason. Does any one have any insight into this? We´d appreciate any help... thanks

It's good for a year - there's no reason why she shouldn't do it now if it's convenient.

The recommendation of within two weeks is so that the embassy will be assured of good health more than anything else. The problems of bringing diseases into America is real so this is why they recommend it within two weeks. But, if the consulate says the physical is good for a year, then have her get the medical exam now.

The only problem you might have is that medical exam should include the consular case number and it is to remain sealed until the embassy officials open it. If you have case number from the embassy (issued by the NVC) then you are good to go.

Good luck.
