I find it more than a little odd two things about the story:

1) the man that called 911 was the husband of woman cowering in the attic with the children. From my understanding, he had taken his wife to the shooting range just a day or so before this incident and he was "coaching" her as to what to do in this situation with the intruder.

This naturally set off my ####### meter blink.gif

That whole scenario strikes me as bizarre.

2) Call me old fashioned (and I'll take it) but I think the MAN should have acted as a man and defended his wife and family. Why didn't he?

Maybe I'm the only one that finds that story a little strange.

Anyhoo, I'm glad the family came out unscathed.

I assumed that there was more time between this and the range day. I also assumed he was at the office or out of town etc.

I'm not sure about the range day, but I just looked up an article that goes into more detail than what I heard previously. Turns out the husband WAS at work. He was on the phone with her AND 911 simultaneously (which got a little wonky in the retelling of events from a relative). I was under the impression he was in the home and dialing 911 at the time it happened.

Based on new information, I'll cut the guy a little slack tongue.gif

At this point we don't know if he was just a burglar seeing if someone was calling police or if he has a history of violence and had even worse motives.

When you commit crime you take a gamble with your life and freedom, in order to get something you're not willing to work for.

She on the otherhand was not willing to gamble and unloaded her gun.

I'm glad he was shot ...at minimum he deserves that,

however I don't regret he lived because I don't know what his intentions where.

But in the end you and I are the losers because I can promise you, after we house him for 12 years he will get out, get a lawyer and collect Social security for some gun-shot related disability. (He might even collect in jail.)

This is very common for gunshot thugs.

Remember big gov only looks at NEED, not if you Ought to collect.

Because he was at work about a 45 min drive away. How in the hades could he protect her..

Your ####### meter is badly damaged

I have never met a straight man that talks about ####### size so much... Dude you got an issue.

I believe all criminals using a gun should die. They terrorize families, rape women and children, burn houses and kill people. Why should i feel sorry for them? No way...no how.

If you break into my house you will get shot. I would rather spend money on a good defense lawyer than on trying to repair the consequences of not pulling the trigger.

When the home owner believes he MIGHT be in serious danger he has a right to shoot, but in your mind and not in LAW, where does your right to kill end? Can you chase him across the yard? Because if this person "deserves to die" why not a week later?
