Interview canceled - please help

Hello,

I have applied for adjustment of status from F1. Two days ago IO received I-797C NoA stating the date of my interview as Feb 8th in Los Angeles office. Recently I moved to a new place so I changed the address. Today morning I received an email update about the case stating "we sent you a notice that the interview scheduled for your I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was canceled by USCIS."

Is this because of my address change? or can it be any other reason? Please reply.

Thank you

Did you move out of Los Angeles county?

Thank you for the reply. No, I moved few blocks from my old place (which is LA county). Does this cancellation means that now my application will be considered along with January filers?

Make sure you still go to the interview as scheduled. There were people who didn't go to the interview thinking it was cancelled and then received denial notice for not showing up - cancellation never made it to the IO and they expected them to come.

Thank you for the reply. But, when I called USCIS customer service, they said it is the local office which decides the time of the interview. In my case, it is local office which canceled the appointment. There is no customer service at the local office, the only way is to get a info pass, which I can't get as there is no option under which my situation falls. So, at this point I dont see any way to find more about my application.

For local USCIS infopass - you pick any option that has available slots (except the one for military members or their dependents) - so case status, further inquiry...

You need Service on a case that has already been filed then Case Processing Appointment or Case Services follow-up appointment

In case you absolutely can't get infopass before your now cancelled appointment - SHOW UP at the appointment with both notices - one scheduling you for interview and one cancelling the interview. You absolutely don't want to not come to the interview and then get a nasty surprise in the form of denial for failing to show up. There were cases on here where they had that happen.
