Questions on AR

I had a few questions on the Administrative Review Process.

If someone is put on AR, are they told verbally or in writing at the interview? - If verbally what are they told?

Also, if you are put on AR will they take your passport after the interview?

Are Finger prints for applicants required - or only for people on AR?

Thanks everyone for your help.

Yes you are given a 221g for incomplete documents or further processing. It really depends on each embassy how they handle the AR/AP processing. I do not see your timeline or embassy and all men coming from the ME/Asian/African countries endure this.

Also, if you are put on AR will they take your passport after the interview?

It depends on the interviewer some have passports taken and will get them back via courier with their visa inside or you can be called back to the embassy and then they will take the passport and finish processing.

All applicants must submit fingerprints. In most cases only the two index fingerprints are taken at the time of interview. If they take all ten it means you have had a name hit in one of the many data bases and it has to be overcome. Also, you can give index prints and they come back with a name hit and the embassy will call you back to give a full set of prints.

Good luck on the remainder of your journey and a timeline would help others to understand where you are at this time in processing as well as what type of visa and what embassy your interviewing.

I don't think my husband ever got a 221g going through Cairo and we were in review or processing for several weeks. Any other Cairenese want to weigh in?

The last female to go through Egypt, Salwa, didn't have any AP/AR at all that I know of.

Sometime in 2008 - Received 10 year GC. Almost done with USCIS for life inshaAllah! Huzzah!

12/07/08 - Adopted the fuzzy feline love of my life, my Squeaky baby th_catcrazy.gif

02/23/09 - Apply for citizenship

06/15/09 - Citizenship interview

Rahma,

How did you know you were in AR? You just didn’t receive your visa for several weeks? Did they take his passport at the interview?

No, my husband didn't get one and he says they didn't ask for fingerprints either. . . . but the wait was still 4 1/2 months for the AP/AR to finish.

After a few weeks, I emailed the embassy. I can't remember if they took his passport or not.

Dear Madam,

Thank you for your e-mail message.

Mr. x's case is currently pending administrative check conducted at the Department of State in Washington. Once this process is completed, the Consular Officer will continue to process Mr. x's case.

Regards

Consular Staff

Subject: Status of case question

Good afternoon:

On July 7, 2005, my finace x had an interview with the

consulate in Cairo concerning our fiance visa petition. At the interview, the

consular said that the papers still had to be procesesed. Are these papers

still being processed, and is there any more information you need? Can you

give us an estimate on when we might receive the visa, so we can start to plan

our wedding?

Our case number is x

Thank you,

x

If I remember our timing, the administrative processing took about a month, and then the embassy dinked around for 2 weeks and finally issued the visa.
