Ok here's how things went.

We went to my husbands appointment on dec. 18. It couldn't have gone any smoother or easier. Everything went really well but they said we need the new I-864 form when he comes to pick up his visa. They gave him the white slip visa pick up slip and he goes to pick it up on January 26. Then he gets a call from them to his cell last Thursday to come in on Sunday.

We went today and his name wasn't on the list but they let us in anyway. We waited hours until they let us into the building. There wad so many ppl it was crowded so there was a man there to let ppl in one by one. Well the jerk had us be. One of the last ones in.

There was a lady there to also go pick up her visa that we knew from our village. She went in before us and came out and we were still waiting. When she left she told us that they kept calling my husbands name inside. But what could we do the guy wouldn't let us in.

So then they finally called us in. We went thru security and when we got into the consular section it was crazy packed. U could definitely tell they were way overbooked and unorganized. All the workers were in such bad moods.

We went to one of the workers (yemeni). We showed him the white slip and gave him the forms. Then he told us to leave and they will call us.

I think they would've given the visa to us that time but the guy was too lazy and overwhelmed that he just then decided not to.

How ridiculous. I was so mad. Inshaallah they will call us soon tho. Inshaallah things will look brighter for all of us.

Just to keep you all I just got an email reply it says:

"Due to the Departure status at the embassy, many of our staff have not yet been allowed to return, and many of our sections are operating at less than 50% staffing. This has unfortunately resulted in longer than usual wait times for all consular services."

loool they always find an excuse for something. even though they know they dont have enough staff they still give out so much appointments nd then it gets to crowred and they send half of them back home. also they started giving ppl who just got interview apps visa picks and leave the rest like me and many other in AP waiting till they call and get us our viasa already. they also dnt even go and check our cases until we get the congress ppl involved in the matter.

That sucks. My husband's pick up is on the 26th aswell. I had my sister contact our congresswoman and she told her my husband lives far from the embassy so it would be a hassle to go and the visa isn't ready. She said she will call them and make sure the visa is ready for him on that day. I'm still worried.

Why is it that this doesn't happen to any other embassy in the world? It's Jan. 14, Christmas break is long gone! Jeeze.

I guess now they are changing the rules instead of giving people who's are first time visa pickups another white slip they say we will call you.

They are soo backed up its a BIG mess:/

Hopefully everyone gets their visa soon inshallah

They even told someone from my village who won the diversity visa that they will call him.

I guess yeah, that's the new thing they're doing. Which I guess makes sense. Instead of giving everyone visa pick ups they should get rid of ppl who already got the pick up slips.

I don't understand why they're making the visa pick up so complicated. It wasn't long ago when a person gets an approved interview, they pick up the visa within a week or 2 weeks max. But now it's taking from 3 weeks to 2 months. That's just crazy!!!
