AP is Administrative Processing. From what I have heard from this board, mostly all males are routinely placed on AP while females go right through. Highly discriminatory if you ask me... however, I do understand the security issues in the country so I guess this is something we have to deal with. I believe they do look at the case further, background checks, etc. My Congressman's representative told me today that he's heard of people being in AP anywhere from 10 days to 1year, it just depends on the case and the Embassy (how fast they want to process).

Did the congressman offer you any assistance? Give you any other info?

Yes. I explained my situation to him and he had me fill out an information release form. I included my case number and a brief description. He then said the would look into why AP is taking so long. I had spoken with him before when we were waiting for an appointment to come available. He remembered me and my situation and said that he thought after he looked into it the last time that we would have been "golden" (no further issues).

He said he would contact the embassy/consulate to see what the hold up is. He said that usually when they start looking into a case the embassy tends to move faster. He also said to give him a week or two (because of the embassy closure and also the Labor Day holiday) and that he would contact me with any info he receives.

I will be sure to pass on any info I receive with everyone here. Hopefully this does help and if it does, I would recommend that everyone get in touch with their Congressman.

For those of you in New York State, I recommend Senator Kirsten Gillibrand's office. Their immigration services officer is extremely helpful and sympathetic to our unique situation. I can't guarantee she'll be able to push anything forward in the State Department but I have heard she's been successful in wearing USCIS down into processing petitions. I haven't had such luck yet in my case >_< but hoping and praying my turn will come up soon.

Writing to the US Embassy in Yemen? They are very unresponsive. And if they do respond they respond with generic automatic emails. When did your NVC case get completed? And when was your interview date scheduled?

are they even open yet or wat no one knows anythin . if i call will they answer ne or what

They don't answer inquiries through the phone anymore. It goes straight to emergencies. According to their website consular services are still closed. But then again, who knows right? Since they never update the damn website anyway!
