I know a woman who had an interview scheduled in April 2011 and then the embassy closed down and her appointment was cancelled. She just now got another appointment for Sept. 7, 2013.

Insha'Allah we don't get cancellation emails.

Are you serious. No way. Oh my god. Am praying everyday so the embassy could open. I can't wait another year. Maybe she miss read the email or she forgot about going or something. But a year and a half I think something went wrong

If I didn't read her appointment letter back in 2011 I would think the same thing, that she misread something. But nope, it's the sad truth that the embassy in Sana'a is completely unorganized.

I don't know how reliable the Bahrain News Agency is but...

"The U.S. embassy in Yemen will be re-opened in the next few days as scheduled."

According to this News Story dated August 13 2013: http://www.bna.bh/portal/en/news/574976

I heard almost the same info today, but from a different source. Heard that they would be reopening next week.

Yes alhamdulilah it will be opened soon insha'Allah.

What do they mean by fingerprint requirements? The ones submitted with the police report?

No they are stating that they will require fingerprint at the time of the interview. So don't worry about that.
