Salaam Aleekum!

The U.S. embassy in Djibouti has stopped taking new applications since July 2nd. They will process the cases that are completed first. So everyone that has their case transferred Inshallah will get an interview soon.

The NVC told me the 16 of June my file has been set to transfer and there is no time frame on how long it will take to transfer my file to Djibouti.

Your file is in Cairo, correct? And your case number begins with YTC?

NVC says your case is going to Djibouti, but it's obviously in Cairo seeing as they responding to ur emails saying they haven't received any request from Djibouti. Which probably means the only way for us to get out cases transferred is if we go into the Embassy in Djibouti and have to them request it straight from the Embassy. The NVC is not doing anything for us rite now.

Sahran:

Didn't u say u already received an email from Djibouti last week saying your case will be transferred to Djibouti but they can not give u an exact timeframe for how long it takes?

If you did, then that's a good thing but u shouldn't wait more than a week to contact them. Send them an email atleast once a week to see if they are still sending you the same response or not. And check the status of ur case.

I realized something new about nvc with there transfers. If you transfer a case from embassy to embassy it doesn't go on the line of transfer automatically. It could take a couple of weeks. When I spoke to them that I requested and recieved a confirmation that my file will transfer that was just a note to put the transfer in. It took 23 days to put the transfer on the line to transfer. That didn't happen until I contacted my senator. The rep said that some people took them over a month to get on the list. He also told me cases that I have seen recently that we're added to the list usually take a month after added.

So after it gets on the line of transfer it takes another month to actually transfer case? So two months like people have said? And I sent an e-mail to Djibouti and attached both emails from Cairo and NVC and three weeks later still no response. It is so frustrating

I just called the NVC. The guy I spoke with was very nice and helpful alhamdulila! I asked him about the list, he even mentioned there has been so much mismatch information from the embassy. he went and looked back at my file and even had his supervisor come and look, he stated that as long as they have a note stating my case will be transferred it will according to the supervisor. I then asked have u been seeing any cases transfers from Cairo, he said actually yes today he spoke with two, one transferred from Cairo to Djibouti and one from Cairo to Algeria. He said the transfers are just taking so long becuase the embassy in Djibouti is filled with case files.

Unfortunately, that has happened to almost all of us. But yesterday when I went with my husband, there was a consular at the window outside. I told her about my case, and that Cairo keeps responding to my emails saying they haven't received a request from the Embassy in Djibouti.

She then took my husband's information, his case number and said we'll contact you.

InshaAllah she sent a request and if anything, have your husband try to do the same. There's usually consular outside at the window from 12pm-1pm.

Alhamdulila thank you! She speak arabic or English? Thank you again.

The supervisor said the note is the list and just the guy told me there has been so much mismatch information about everything regarding the embassy. He said I assure you your case will be transferred.

She spoke English. I'm pretty sure she's a consular, cuz she was giving people appointments that had to be rescheduled as well.

But if your husband needs a translator, there are plenty of yemenies that wait outside that speak English. He can ask them for help.

InshaAllah we all get our cases transferred in the blessed month of Ramadan.

This is the email I received from Djibouti today after I sent a request. It took them 9 days to respond.

How is anyone supposed to know if they will request it or not if they just send automatic messages?

Did anyone else get this after they sent a request.

"Dear Sir/Madam,

The U.S. Embassy wishes to inform U.S. citizens and their non-U.S. citizen family members departing the unrest in Yemen and arriving in Djibouti via seaborne travel of requirements relating to immigrant visa case transfer requests.

In order to improve service and appointment availability, non-U.S. citizen family members requesting a case transfer of an existing immigrant visa case are no longer required to make an appointment to physically present themselves at the Embassy.

Non-U.S. citizen family members are now requested to send the following information to Consular staff:

· their case file number,

· a local contact number or email address,

· a photo of their Djiboutian entry visa and entry stamp, and

· a photo of their passport bio-data page.

This information should be e-mailed to the Embassy at DJI-CONS-IV@state.gov. Please do not drop off any documents at the Embassy. Failure to provide all requested information may result in delays relating to immigrant visa case transfer requests to the Embassy.

We will respond to your emailed case transfer request as soon as possible. Please be aware it may take up to a week for us to respond due to the high volume of emails we are receiving.

Best,

Djibouti IV Unit

Don

I recieved a reply from Djibouti an email I sent out three weeks ago, response not really helpful. Seems automated three weeks waited for an automated response. Ala Allah!

Thank you for your email. It can take several weeks for a case file to be transferred to Djibouti once the National Visa Center receives your request. Transfers for cases previously transmitted to Sanaa or Cairo require both the electronic file and the physical file to be received in Djibouti before the case is considered to be received.

The Department of States Bureau of Consular Affairs is currently experiencing technical problems with our overseas passport and visa systems. This issue is not specific to any particular country, citizenship document, or visa category. However, it is affecting the speed with which case files can be transferred from one embassy to another. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working urgently to correct the problem and restore full operability.

All cases received in Djibouti are reviewed within 7 business days, at which time you will be contacted and provided with information on further processing for your case. You do not need to take any action at this point.

Please do not call the consular section or schedule an appointment until you have been directed to do so by consular staff, as this will delay your case and those of other applicants.

We look forward to communicating with you further once your case arrives in Djibouti and has been reviewed.

Best,

Djibouti IV Unit

Hanna
