Hello,

I have been lurking on this forum for a little over a year.

I too am waiting for an interview appointment for my wife.

I know it is great news that they are finally moving things along, hopefully they do it at a fast and steady pace.

I have heard from family and friends that the US is planning to move their embassy back to Yemen soon, supposedly they are going to move it to Aden. This seems very counter intuitive to me since they have just relocated to Cairo now they are relocating again bringing forth even more delays. However, this is just what I have heard I have not confirmed any of this information. Does anybody else know anything about this? Also does anybody know if the Cairo embassy has started scheduling appointments yet? If so, did anybody here get scheduled for an appointment and if you did can we get some information about your case (e.g. how long have you been waiting for an appointment)?

Thanks.

Hey,

I was reading CNN and it says, that the gulf countries are relocating their embassies in Aden, Yemen. I hear from family in friends that they are also relocating the US Embassy, but it is only a rumor so far.

Aha that must be where the rumor that the U.S. Embassy is moving to Aden came from. Maybe they will in the future but I doubt it will be soon. I've been to the U.S. Embassy in Sana'a, anyone who's been there knows that the security there is more strict than airports. When I finally got to the door of the actual embassy I had no idea how I even got there, lol. You first enter a security check that verifies your name and appointment. They then walk you several yards into a seating area that is gated and has trees around it. Almost like a forest if my memory is correct. Then you enter a building with security and this area is exactly like an airports security check. And then you are escorted out of this small building and walk several more yards to the actual embassy. My point is that the embassy was built unlike any simple building. It is strategically placed in a specific spot. So secure that you can't see the actual building until you're literally in front of it about to walk in. With that in mind, it's hard for me to imagine the embassy just relocating to another building and carrying on. It's not that simple. This isn't an Egyptian embassy or Omani embassy, this is the U.S. Embassy and you already know how they are with their secruity.

Just my 2 cents. I honestly hope they do relocate to Aden someday. That would make things a lot easier.

So did anyone get their case transferred to Cairo yet? If so can we get a little bit of background info about your case like how long you have been waiting for an appointment and such.

Thanks.

Now there saying saudi arabia

COME ON people.

YOU SHOULD READ the web of the us embassy in sanaa.

It says cairo.

Just got a reply today from the NVC:

Dear Sir/Madam:

Thank you for your query about your immigrant visa case, which was supposed to be processed at the U.S. Embassy in Sana'a. With the embassy's suspension of consular services, the Department of State will transfer Yemeni immigrant visa cases to either Cairo or Algiers. However, at this point we do not have interview times available at either post. Once the National Visa Center receives instructions and appointment times from Cairo and Algiers, we will pass those details to you. We will also post instructions and news on our website at nvc.state.gov, so please check our site regularly. We know this is a confusing time and appreciate your patience as we work through the transfer process. Thank you.
